You're all expecting the story of my first job now, aren't you? Well, needless to say, it was a failure. Good thing Cana was with me. That's all I'm saying! I'd really rather not talk about what happened.
Anyway, Cana was my biggest partner until I was eleven. We took jobs together all the time and she became one of my best friends. Same with Aunt Lisanna. I spent a lot of time with Aunt Lis, because Mama had to take jobs and Loke would go with her on the hard ones. Which was a lot, seeing as she was on a team with Uncle Natsu and Aunt Erza. Well, I guess just plain Erza. As soon as I was old enough to take jobs on my own, she asked me to stop using Aunt with her name. We weren't related and she said that while it was cute when I was little, I was growing up and she wanted to be able to treat me like a fellow guild member. Not just a niece.
On easier jobs, me and Kyle would spend our time with Loke. Sometimes he would take us to the spirit world. Other times he would just stay at our house with us. I guess this gets me to my annoying kid brother. Everyone in the guild is ecstatic about him. He has this "new" type of magic. He has the ability to summon spirits without keys. He still needs the key to form a contract, but after that he doesn't need the key anymore. That made Mama real happy too. It meant that they could create dual contracts with her spirits and Kyle will get her keys when she retires or, you know, dies.
I was sitting in my room thinking about this annoying fact when a knock came. I sighed, "Who is it?"
"Loke. Can I come in?" he called back. Great, think of the devil.
"Yeah, I guess," I called back. I was still in the awkward preteen stage of age eleven.
"Hey, kiddo. How's it going?" Loke asked coming in. He was in his human form, wearing a green shirt and jeans with his hair shorter.
"Fine, I guess. Where's Mama going this time?" I asked him.
"No where. I was just wondering if you wanted to go out," Loke answered. I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Why?" I wondered.
He laughed, "Kk, I'm not trying to replace Gray. I don't want to. But every girl deserves a daddy-daughter date. And your Mama agrees." I thought about it for a moment. I really did like Loke. And he really was like a father to me. So, I guess a daddy-daughter date wouldn't be too bad. "Alright. Where are we going?" I asked.
Loke took me to an amusement park for the day. It was totally wicked! We went an all of the super fun and scary ones. Loke even won me a prize. It was one of those big teddy bears. By ten at night, I was drop dead tired and Loke was carrying me home on his back. I was semi-conscious when we got there. I vaguely remember Mama and Loke having a conversation.
"Aw, she must've had fun," Mama commented.
"Yeah. She insisted on going on the big ones," Loke replied.
"I bet. She's never been content with the bottom line. She's a lot like Gray," Mama told him. I was gently placed in bed and covered up.
"Lucy, it's been five years. Do you really think he's coming back?" Loke asked sadly.
"I have to Loke. He's a Fairy Tail mage. If I don't believe, then I'm going to collapse. Who will care for Katie and Kyle then?" Mama responded. That was about the time I succumbed completely to sleep and I never got to hear Loke's answer.
The next morning, Simon was waiting for me at the guild like usual. For some reason that boy followed me everywhere. I was pretty annoyed by it. I didn't need anyone to take care of me. Today was also a big day for me. Mama was going to let me take my first solo job. Of course, that meant she got to pick, but I got to go alone!
