"I'm going to tie the door to the pole over there."
"Weak strings in a shabby pole?! Yeah like that's gonna keep it closed!"
I would've gave him an annoyed look but honestly we didn't have time to bicker. "Maybe not, but it'll stay closed long enough for us to make a run for it! You guys go!"
I've noticed that some of the creatures had climbed up the side. "I said go!!"
Ben was stuck at the door. I was the one with the plan. Aiden was just standing there, but he could be useful.
"Ben, tie this to the handle," I said.
Aiden offered to help tie one end of the string while I tied the other. I nodded in agreement and looked around at the others before quickly tying the string to the pole. Tyler wasn't wrong when he said the poles looked shabby, but we really had nothing to work with. It was metal, and supposedly sturdy.
As soon as we finished, we dashed in the opposite direction.
Not surprisingly, the string snapped, leaving one of the creatures chasing after us.
It was unreasonably fast.
I didn't have that good of stamina— but I was pretty fast for the short amount of time I could keep it up. I noticed the cleaning cart in front of us, pulling ahead.
"Ben, Aiden! MOVE!" I shouted as I swung the cart directly at the creature, causing it to crash into the wall.
Everything was fine—until it smiled. Suddenly, it reached out with its claw and scratched my shoulder, leaving me wincing in pain. I tried not to show it as much as I could.
Everything felt woozy and disoriented. "Ha—" Aiden said with a smile.
Aiden quickly jumped from behind me, pushing the cart harder against the wall, crushing it, and grabbing a bottle of chemicals, holding it up to the creature's head.
"You know, this could be fun," he said.
I looked Aiden with wide eyes, but quickly averted my eyes before he noticed how intently I was staring.
Suddenly, I heard a bloody scream coming from the creature. It seemed the others couldn't hear it, though.
I covered my shoulder, not wanting to worry the others and distract them from what's really important—
Surviving.
