The waiting room was cramped and quiet, the air thick with suspense as everyone waited for any sign from the medical staff. I sat in one seat and Aiden sat next to me.
My foot tapping like crazy. I couldn't help but wonder but keep taking glances at Taylor. The one who looked like she was still on the verge of crying, and it was my fault.
Everything going on with Tyler had me questioning life and death again, and it's connection between the two dimensions. I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory.
The memory of Taylor crying and begging me to go back plaid in my head like a bad scene in a movie My thoughts were interrupted when someone called my name
"Ashlyn.." I stiffen at the sudden noise and look up and see Aiden looking at me once again with that worried look. "You did the best that you could.." His hand placed on top of mine "Don't beat yourself up about it"
He gave me a small smile, i could tell he was trying to be reassuring, but it wasn't working much. Tears run down my face as i look down.
Aiden turns his face away from me before grasping my hand tightly with his.
"Hey trooper..." I hear my dad call out to me.
Aiden swings his hand away from mine in a somewhat nervous manner.
"Wanna take a walk?"
"...Sure"
As we walk out I steal a quick glance at Aiden. He was staring down at his hand, slightly opening it.
~WALKING WITH MIKE~
"So what happened?" He asked looking straight
I was confused. Did he know? No... He couldn't. Right?
"We told you in the car..." I look up at him my eyebrows slightly narrowed
"Ashlyn..." He turned so he was facing me and he had that parent voice when they know something's wrong "I mean what really happened."
That's when I knew.... We couldn't hide this anymore.
But... how was I going to even word this? 'Yeah, so basically ever since the field trip to savannah, we've been going to a whole different dimension, fighting these monsters every night.', Yeah....no.
To be honest, I don't even know what's really going on.
