We landed back on the bus.Just as I thought...
I'm still covering my ears, Aiden's arms wrapped around me. Tyler is standing there with his arms raised, his sister, Taylor, hiding behind him. Logan looks like he's about to cry. And Ben is standing behind all of us.
I still feel dizzy, but I manage to whisper, "Duck!" I push Aiden's face away from mine."Still here?" Tyler whispers to me.I give him a nod."What do we do?" Taylor asks in a shaky whisper.I pause to think. "We'll have to try and kill it.""And how would we do that?" Tyler asks, a bit of aggression in his voice.
Aiden chimes in with a smile. "We could have Logan shoot it out the window."
"No, the gun is for emergencies only,"I say firmly. "This is an emergency!" Tyler shouts.
"No, an emergency is when there is a swarm or one of us is about to die," I reply. "We don't have many bullets, so we need to try to kill it with our weapons..."I glance at the box full of weapons across the aisle.
Suddenly, I hear the phantom's steps getting closer to the bus.
"Shh!" I say in a hushed whisper.It's getting closer with each step... Did it hear us?"Hide under the seats," I whisper to everybody, pointing to the seat beside me.
Ben, who's sweating like crazy, goes and hides under one of the back seats. The twins hide together in one of the middle seats. Aiden, with that creepy smile on his face, and Logan, who's trying to muffle his silent whimpers, hide beside the seat next to mine.
I see the box of weapons just a few shimmies away. I move my knee up some, not realizing how loud it's going to be.
