"WHAT WAS ALL THAT ABOUT?"

Kitty turned her head to look at her brother. They were standing shoulder-to-shoulder in front of the condenser. Although Neil already had a headlight strapped to his forehead, Kitty also used her smashed iPhone's flashlight to brighten the room around them even more, making sure that Neil would be able to see everything as he checked over the condenser. Trying to get it working again.

"What was all what about?" She asked, raising her brow slightly.

Neil pointed in the general direction out of the storage room, "You and Richie."

Kitty still looked confused. She lifted her phone and pointed it at her brother's face.

"Ow, stop," He said, squinting. He lifted his hand up to his eyes, shielding them from the bright light.

Kitty lowered the light but still kept it pointed at her brother, trying to gauge his facial expressions seeing as she still had no idea what he was talking about. Or at least that's what her brain kept trying to convince her.

"He didn't follow me out," Neil pointed out, images of his and Richie's pathetic fight flashing through Kitty's mind while he spoke, "When I left. He wanted to, I saw it in his beady eyes. But the fucker didn't. 'Cause you stopped him."

"Or it was the murderous look on Carmy's face," Kitty shrugged.

Neil laughed in her face, "Yeah right! As if Richard fuckin' Jerimovich would stop something 'cause Carmy told him to. Come on, Kitty. I'm your brother."

"Yeah, I know you are, but I don't know what you want me to say," She said, looking away from him and pretending to be interested in the condenser, even though she had no idea what she was actually looking at, "Maybe he realised it wouldn't be worth chasing after you?" She suggested.

Neil rolled his eyes dramatically, "Okay, well, what about when he refused to look at you when he was talking about the drug dealing? You can't say that that wasn't anything."

"Yes, I can say that do you know why?"

Neil hummed.

She leaned closer, "Because. It. Was. Nothing."

Neil shook his head. He turned his attention back to the condenser, obviously not believing a word his younger sister was saying. He wasn't blind to it. Having noticed the strange calmness that seemed to surround Richie and Kitty lately. Something that was unheard of back in the day. He was surprised that she hadn't even lunged at him over the counter when he admitted to selling coke out in the alleyway. Instead, she looked more like she was disappointed rather than angry.
