Narrator's POV
This is surely a turn of events, and maybe our protagonist has a new competition for 'The worst life' awards.
Jokes aside, it was difficult for the brothers to process the new information. Spending some time apart, a few hours to be exact.
They also decided to cancel the party.
They had different responses on that matter. While Yeosang had messages clarifying the bond of friendship between his friends, to make sure he knew that he was welcomed to share his problems, Wooyoung got a stream of messages of complaints accusing him of playing a prank. He had angrily texted back, earning another stream of messages of concern.
They had a lot of feelings to process.
Confusion, hurt, discomfort, anger and so on.
Imagine that your entire existence had been based on a lie. From your family to your childhood memories. All halted by being plucked off from their family by a murder, who had clearly been abusing them throughout their lives to get a status.
They only had each other now, since they had no traces of their parents and their grandparents.
They started to sympathise with Seonghwa even more , realising that they all had been victims to her plans and that maybe they were all doomed for a terrible ending.
Yeosang came back from his room , clearly hungry from all the thinking that was getting to his head.
He found his brother on the ouch , with used tissues , all over the floor. He was watching his comfort movie, A Silent Sound, wrapped up in a blanket. A few steps, then he reached the couch to join his brother under the blanket. They cuddled until one of them spoke.
A quick discussion about the situation had them crying then screaming their hearts out to metal music, passing out.
The day came and went.
The sunshine illuminated the room , dancing on the eyelids of the two sleeping men. They didn't look pretty: drool, bad breath and mushy gums from the lack of brushing their teeth. Yeosang was complaining of his dry skin with remaining makeup, while Wooyoung complained about his back.
To start the day, they lazily showered, dressed and ate breakfast, following a recipe book that Seonghwa had gifted on the university acceptance day so they wouldn't starve at the uni dorms.
Well, it didn't end up being like that and our two brothers had remained in the hands of the evil stepmother.
They sighed as they remembered their bitter memories, but they were also glad.
Once they settled down, it was time to gather ideas.
"What should we do now?!"
Wooyoung shrugged, unsure.
"Will they even believe us?", Woouyoung questioned.
"What?"
"I mean , no one will believe us ? It's impossible to explain how we are not related to our mother".
"But we haven't even tried?", Yeosang retorted, getting defensive at the statement.
"Is there a reason to try? She will probably lie like she did with Seinghwa and get us back into her clutches and maybe kill us both".
A slap sound ringed through the room.
Wooyoung's eyes were wide from the pure shock, and the sting to his left cheek had changed his mood completely.
Yeosang was the opposite, he was the one to deliver the slap with precision determination written on his face. He went on to hug him, right after.
"It's okay"
Wooyoung buried his head, between the neck and shoulder, sniffles filling the air.
And that's how they spent their morning, in the comfort of each other's brotherhood, their only definite identity.
Everyone's mood was back to a level of calmness, Yeaosnga dan Wooyoung began to strategize
"We need to inform the guards?"
"Yes, since they are part of this case, adding this allows them to find the real culprit aka our mother, who had sent unconfirmed guards against the royal protocol", Yeosang explained.
"And will they help us? Since we are also being investigated".
"I mean , we can also help them ,since we can give more statements . Also , they could help us lead to our brother and give him his own piece of paper"
The paper, in question, was in their hands along with their. They didn't read it, knowing that it would be related to the death of Seonghwa's parent.
"However, wouldn't they want to read it first?", Wooyoung asked.
"They can if they want, there could be a clue, but I can't bring myself to read it"
"Same", Wooyoung agreed.
"Anyway, does the plan sound solid?"
"Yes! I can't wait to call my prince charming", Wooyoung said. He searched up the number leading to the guard station.
Getting a phone out, with his brother by his side, Wooyoung dialled the number.
"Good afternoon, Guards Department from the Royal Palace, how may I assist you today?"
"Good afternoon, will I be able to speak to Choi San ?"
"May I know who is speaking?"
"I am one of the witnesses for the ball incident, closely related to the mother."
"May I know your name?"
"Wooyoung, I introduced myself to him previously", the flirtatious note to the end of the sentence made Yeosang cringe.
"One moment please"
The standard ring with "please wait a moment as we have a large amount of callers" filled the air, in which Yeosang took eh opportunity to reprimand Woyoung for his behaviour. Honestly, he started feeling like a mum.
Brother were silent anticipating
"Good afternoon, Choi San speaking?"
"Good afternoon, handsome. I expected a call from you".
Clearing of the throat was heard from the other line.
"We are not here for chit-chat", Jongho broke the awkwardness with his deadpan voice, sending Yeosang into a fit of giggles, teasing Wooyoung about the scolding.
Wooyoung, feeling embarrassed, composed himself.
"WE got some serious information"
"How serious?"
"Could end the investigation a lot quicker than expected. How do you feel about death?"
The line went silent before Jongho spoke again.
"We sent you the address to our office, please come ASAP"
