Wooyoung's POV

After that day, my mother had been released from custody as they had got her statement and had been getting a lead to the investigation.

So that meant our days of freedom ended, getting back to the usual routine of labour. Since my older brother escaped, she wasn't willing to give up the life of luxury and had made us her maids.

Cleaning here, cooking there, while still maintaining university assignments and making it to class on time.

Personally, I wasn't on time to begin with, but now I was always getting marked late instead of making it there just in time.

I could see the effects of exhaustion on Yeosang too. Mother had been taking out her anger on him due to the fact that no one had taken a fancy on him.

During the time period between the guards and our mother coming home, there has been an increase of couples, to be expected since most of the university students had gone to the ball. And while I got a few letters of declaration of love, Yeosang got none.

Nada.

Zero.

Which was the whole point of the ball , resulting in failure based on my mother's expectations.

I got lucky that among my suitors, there had been a few well known families that my mother approves of.

Imagine my surprise, when our mother announced a sudden trip, demanding for her bags to be made that very second.

She did not mention the place she was going, rather odd on her part since she is usually would to tell us so we can spread the word around to boost her status.

She wanted all her five luggages to be prepared, each containing one type of item: dresses in the big one, tops and bottoms in the two medium-sized ones, shoes in another one, accessories in a small bag and gifts in the biggest one.

I was in charge of the last one, having entered the rooms that were usually locked.

The room was filled with small decorated boxes and items with gift wrapping paper. As I was handling them into the hand, I realised that some were glass bottles as they clunk together when next to each other.

Once the bags were packed , it was also our job to carry them down the stairs to the living room, previously Seonghwa's solo job . In the past, we had offered to help him, the first few times, but got punished for doing so and then worsening Seonghwa's punishment for accepting our help.

After that, we knew better than to help him.

Carefully stepping down the stairs, slowly as not to damage them , we reached the living room. She checked the contents of it, not believing that we would do a good job, and then ordered us to carry it out to the taxi that had just arrived.

By the end of it, we were exhausted. She gives us a dirty look for the way that we were not hiding it, before driving off.

Waving the car, we went back in once it was out of sight, getting ready for some action.

Yeosang had discovered that our mother had planted CCTV cameras at important spots in the house. Then he analysed the pattern at which mother was checking them and how much they can record, allowing him to decide when it is the best time to do what we like.

On my part, I caught wind of the people who seemed nice , asking a lot of questions about our whereabouts and what we did l, realising that they had been paid by my mother to spy on us. Usually happens in uni, but even neighbours were getting involved.

We followed the same plan. Yeosang gets rid of the cameras by tapping his old phones with recorded loops of the house. While , I went to greet the neighbours, asking them if they were okay with sudden noise increase due to a dance practice with my team.

They didn't suspect a thing and agreed, not before warning me that if it got too loud they would be calling the police.

Exchanging goodbyes, I went back home to start the second part of the plan: inviting people to the secret party.

I texted Yeonjun , who excitedly agreed and decided to invite his friends over. Surprisingly, I got the green light from Changbin , he had got someone to cover his shift last minute. I was pretty sure that he had got his boyfriend to do so. Yeonjun texted back, announcing that he was bringing in a new game he was into.

I urged Yeosang to go and change, which he protested but agreed since his tracksuit he wore for the week wasn't suitable.

Rubbing my hands, I saw the perfect opportunity to use the luxury makeup and perfume my mother had bought recently.

So, I went to her room and searched. Searched her wardrobe from top to bottom and on the inside, I also checked the pockets of the dew jackets and patted the dresses, but nothing was there.

I went to her beauty parlour vanity mirror, and searched the drawers, only to find last season items.

I started wondering where she could have hidden them, until I decided to check underneath the bed. And, bingo, I found a small box.

A colourless box, once brown but now a weird vomit colour, it had dust all over it. Great way to camouflage the expensive items. I couldn't believe that I could compliment her for her nasty way.

I took the lid off just to be met with paper. My hands went to lift the paper, thinking that it was a cover to hide the makeup, but there was nothing underneath.

Curiosity kicked in and unfolded the paper. My eyes looked through the black typed words, but the more I advanced, the more they seemed to speed up to the end of the page.

I dropped the papers as if it had burnt me with the last sentence.

It was my name.

On the donation letter.

Adrenaline kicked in and one by one , I read through the papers, most of them, leaving out the ones that belonged to Seonghwa. By then, I felt a deep sadness. I brought my hands to my face and felt the wetness of tears, not having realised that I had started crying.

Yeasong came in, asking for updates on the makeup, but when he saw me, he crouched down, asking if I got hurt.

I wiped my tears and pointed to the papers.

Once he read it, he was speechless and went out of the room.
