Chapter 21: Jealousy

Last time, Serena reunites with Shauna, one of her old friends in the Kalos region. When Shauna learns Ash and Serena are dating, she remembers how a boy with a crush on her moved here to Kanto a while ago. When Serena asks his name, Shauna says his name is Calem.

SERENA: Calem?!

ASH: The Calem in this school has a crush on you? What's so bad about that?

Serena has a flashback (yes, another one) to when Calem still lived in Kalos. It was four years ago, or when Serena and Calem were ten. They were in the park.

CALEM: Here, Serena! A present for you!

SERENA: How nice, what is it?

It was a necklace with a heart attached to it.

CALEM: *Blushes a little* Well, Serena, I like you! A lot!

SERENA: *Starts blushing* You- you do?

Right then, another eleven year old boy who also happened to have a crush on Serena walked up. That boy was Tierno.

TIERNO: *Looks down and blushes a bit* Well, Serena, I was wondering if you wanted to go do something with me after school. It- it can be anything!

Calem started getting angry with Tierno.

CALEM: Hey, you jerk! I asked her first!

Calem punched Tierno in the stomach and kept on kicking and punching him while Serena watched, horrified.

SERENA: *Grabs Calem's arm* Calem, stop it!

But Calem only knocked her back.

CALEM: *Angry* Stay out of this, Serena! I like you more than he does, and he didn't have the right to ask you out when I got to you first!

The flashback ends, and Serena realizes Ash is trying to get her attention.

ASH: Serena? Serena?!

PIKACHU: Pika Pika?! (You there?!)

Serena shakes her head to get rid of the memory and apologizes.

SERENA: I'm sorry, I just had a flashback.

ASH: On what? It's ok, just tell us!

When Serena thoroughly explains what happened at the park that day, everyone's horrified, and Shauna pales.

SHAUNA: Arceus, I completely forgot about that! When Calem finds out you're dating Ash...

ASH: But I don't understand! When I was talking to him when you were kidnapped-

SHAUNA: *Gasps* KIDNAPPED?!

DAWN: Yeah, um, we'll explain later.

ASH: Anyways, when I was talking to him, he seemed completely at ease and normal. He was really nice, actually!

SERENA: And that's what I thought, before that day. Calem has two completely different sides to him, and I can't figure out why.

ASH: Well, if Calem goes after me, I'm sure I'll be fine.

SERENA: If you were somebody else, I would be more worried. After all, you have Pikachu around.

PIKACHU: Pika Pika! (Yeah, he does!)

SERENA: I'm kind of worried... about me. Last time, Calem took no heed to my words and knocked me back without a thought.

CLEMONT: To make it worse, he's fourteen now.

ASH: Arceus... You're right. *Ash's expression darkens considerably* Let's just hope he goes after me, and not you.

MAY: But for the time being-

BARRY: All of us are sticking close by, in case Calem does try something.

With a heavy feeling, the group of seven walk towards their classes.
