Chapter 55: An Apology-?

Weeks have passed. The normal days continue on, and for once, nothing out of the ordinary occurs.

MIETTE: *Walks over to Serena, a bit nervous* Um... Hi.

SERENA: It's you again?! My Arceus-

MIETTE: *Waves hands around, frantically* No, no! I'm... I'm here to apologize.

Serena looks doubtful, but continues to listen.

MIETTE: You were right. I can't expect Ash to love me more than you instantly. As you said before... Nothing we have ever done together tested our bond.

SERENA: Um, ok...

MIETTE: I was a real jerk to you. I now see that. So... How about we start over? Clean slate, just as if we have never met before?

Serena thinks about her decision for a while, then smiles.

SERENA: *Thinks* I'm pretty sure this is all an act, but I'll stick with it for a while. I'll talk to the girls about it. *Says* Okay, then. Hello! My name's Serena. And yours?

MIETTE: *Smiles back* I'm Miette. It's nice to meet you!

The two share a giggle, then begin to talk.

MIETTE: Got any plans for Saturday?

SERENA: Eh? No, why?

Miette's grin widens.

MIETTE: How 'bout going for a little shopping trip? Me, you, Ash?

Short Time Skip with Miette

The girl looks around, trying to see if anyone can overhear her.

MIETTE: *Calls number on her phone* C'mon, pick up... I don't have all day...

???: Oh. It's you.

MIETTE: *Rolls eyes* Well, how nice. Okay, I got news: it's settled. Tomorrow.

???: The day? It's tomorrow?

MIETTE: Yep. That's what I just freaking said, didn't I?

???: No need for that. So, looks like she trusts you well enough?

MIETTE: Surprisingly, yes. I made one of the worst possible apology speech ever, but she's gullible enough. Kind of a moron.

???: Do you know who you're talking to?

MIETTE: Well, I'm sorry. It's partially true.

???: I'm doing you a favor by forgetting you said that.

MIETTE: *Snorts* I'm gratified.

???: You'd better not forget your part, Miette. Of course, you'll get your side of the bargain, as well.

MIETTE: Ha! Same goes for you.

???: Alright, then. I'm hanging up.

A slow smirk comes across Miette's face.

MIETTE: Oh, Serena Yvonne. You made a mistake in making an enemy out of me.

And... Back with the Crew. The girls.

SERENA: ...Hmm. Weird.

MAY: Huh? What's weird, Serena?

SERENA: Remember that blue-haired girl I told you about?

DAWN: Me, right? Nah, just joking. What about Miette?

SERENA: Err, she just came up to me and suddenly... apologized.

SHAUNA: Wait, Miette, saying sorry? When Grumpig's fly!!!

SERENA: Exactly. I find it a bit off. Should I believe her? Apparently, she wants Ash and I to come on a shopping trip with her on Saturday.

The other girls think about this for a while.

DAWN: I dunno. Her words earlier... She acted vain, self-confident, and a lot more I will not say.

SERENA: *Nods* Yeah.

MAY: And here, she apologized. Somethings obviously not right.

SHAUNA: Of course. But it would be suspicious of we were to all tag along with you.

SERENA: I've already told Ash about it- though not about the Miette incident during the Showcase- and he agrees he'll come.

DAWN: I guess you can go. Just be extra cautious, Serena! Call us if you need something, for any reason.

SERENA: *Nods* Right.
