Chapter 72: Shall We Dance?

I injured my left thumb during volleyball camp (embarrassing) so that is why the next chapters will come out slower. I get bored since it takes a long time so yeah sorry! :P

Also we just hit 1,000 likes! Holy Flying Arceus!

With excitement and gleeful anticipation infused with every single fiber in their bodies, the group meets up at the parking lot and, together, head towards the Academy, night quickly befalling.

The guys wear their normal suits, and the ladies wear beautiful dresses. Serena now wears a sleeveless red gown with a ribbon tied around her waist. Her hair is let down, long and wavy.

The couples are as follow: Ash and Serena, Dawn and Kenny, Trevor and Shauna, Clemont and May, and Tierno with Zoey. (Tierno needed a partner why not Zoey :P )

Barry didn't come because he felt like he would puke with all the couples around.

The Pokémon were invited, too. Pikachu and Fennekin (sorry Ash never caught a Froakie), Piplup and Prinplup, Charmander and Bulbasaur, Chespin and Torchic, plus Squirtle and Glameow.

Ash grabs Serena's hand, and Dawn does the same with Kenny and start walking faster.

ASH, DAWN: C'mon! Let's go!

SERENA: *Running towards the entrance* Do you know how to dance?

ASH: A bit. Why?

SERENA: Nothing.

(A/N: Ash can actually dance, like in the episode where they get invited to the ball. )

They hurry inside the doors, chattering endlessly. They walk in the cafeteria, where the dance is held, and on one side tables of food stretch across. The rest of the space is illuminated by the colored lights.

The event hasn't started yet, so everyone mingles and talks. Then the Principal shows up on the stage.

PRINCIPAL: We are starting the music now. Enjoy yourselves!

The speakers blare out upbeat music and everybody starts dancing and tapping their feet to the beat.

ASH: *Over the loud music* You look wonderful, Serena!

SERENA: Thanks!

The Pokémon all seem to enjoy themselves, they take note.

After a while, Ash and Serena escape the crowd to eat a bit, and Kenny and Dawn soon join them.

KENNY: It's so loud!

DAWN: What do you expect? It's a school dance.

Serena takes a plate and loads it with a small slice of cake. Ash and the others do the same.

ASH: *Shouts* Maybe it's too loud. Wanna eat outside and take a break?

SERENA, DAWN, KENNY: Sure.

The four leave the building and rest outside, eating the food and talking. They sit on the bench under a tree nearby.

ASH: This is pretty fun. I'm glad there's something to loosen us up an forget all the bad things that happened this year.

SERENA: *Clasps his hand* And to remember all the good things. Like when we realized we knew each other way back...

ASH: And when we started dating...

SERENA: And when you won the gym battle against Viola and I won my Performance...

They laugh as they recollect all the past experiences.

SHAUNA: *Calls out* Guys! You might want to come in!

DAWN: What's going on?

SHAUNA: *Grins* It's partner dancing. Like, a rotation dance I think it's called, where you switch partners.

ASH: If we switch partners, I want to dance with you last so I can remember it.

SERENA: Okay! Let's join in.

(I know nothing about these dancing stuff ;-; and pretend the music from when Ash first met Serena in the woods is playing!)

They walk back in and the boys form the outer circle. Serena goes through, dancing, but mindlessly, waiting for her to get to Ash. Ash seems to do the same.

Finally, they meet up.

ASH: Well, then.

SERENA: *Smiles* Hi.

"Shall we dance?"

The music reaches the melody once more, and Ash extends his hand, palm up. Serena's gloved fingers gingerly take his, and they whirl away, staring into each other's eyes for what seems like the rest of the night.
