Chapter 70: Ash vs. Serena? Part I

Holy Arceus, we just hit 30k views! I'M SO PROUD!

Today happens to be the second to last day of school. (Btw I was just let out last Friday!)

KENNY: Ah! It's so close to being summer.

BARRY: *Pumped* We won't have to do anything in classes!

The day is full of non stressful, fun activities. At one point there is even a triple battle tournament, though Ash, Serena, and Clemont easily stand undefeated.

An unofficial (of course) Performance is held, also, where all the girls compete, which Serena obviously takes for her own.

Then, the students are all free to battle, chat, trade, and do whatever they each desire. So, the students all agreed that they would really like to see one particular battle:

Ash, with two Pokémon, aided with his aura-enhanced vision, against Serena, with aura-enhanced Fennekin. Though, Serena is not allowed to unleash her full potential.

Since Clemont and Trevor deemed it to be fairly evenly matched, the rest went along with their opinion and went crazy, picking sides and making bets over who they thought would win.

Out of the group, Trevor, Barry (biased!), and May (who apologized to Serena) thought Ash would win, while Dawn, May, Shauna, and Tierno believed Serena would.

Clemont and Kenny stayed indifferent, though Dawn pouted.

ASH: Let's go, Hawlucha!

SERENA: *Extends arm into the air* I call on my Strength!

The familiar golden beam of light shines down onto Serena and her Pokémon.

(A/N: Forgive me for forgetting Hawlucha's move set again lol)

CLEMONT: Battle, start!!!

ASH: *Orders* High Jump Kick, now!

SERENA: Fennekin.

As Hawlucha deftly soars through the air, aimed for the Fire-type, Fennekin nods. The moment she starts to quickly dodge...

ASH: *Through his sight* Hawlucha, change course to your left!

Immediately, he lands and pivots on his left leg and kicks towards his left. Fennekin had already begun to dodge and blurred into the direction directly where Hawlucha kicked!

Fennekin is sent flying, and skids on the ground for a second before recovering.

SERENA: I didn't expect that... but that's hardly the beginning! Flamethrower!

ASH: Dodge!

SERENA: Follow it!

Swiftly, the Hawlucha evaded the roaring flames, only to realize that Fennekin could truly bend the move to its will. The fire curves itself and hits the bird squarely.

HAWLUCHA: Lucha!

ASH: Amazing power...

SERENA: Isn't it, though? Psybeam, Fennekin.

ASH: *Thinks* Even as a Fennekin, it learned Psybeam?! *Shouts* Use Brick Break as a shield!

Hawlucha, thought hurt, manages to harden its wing and raises it in front of its body, barely withstanding the Psybean and succeeding.

ASH: Hawlucha, Flying Press!

Using the nearby trees to help gain altitude, Hawlucha jumps and overlaps with the sun, making Fennekin squint as it looks up.

SERENA: *Thinks* This isn't good... it has gained too much speed for even Fennekin to dodge! *Snaps fingers and says* Fennekin, look straight up and use Ember!

CLEMONT: I see. Since it is glaring at the sun, Fennekin cannot aim specifically for Hawlucha- thus, Ember, a widespread move, may be able to hit.

ASH: Hawlucha, don't flinch and keep descending! Twist to your right!

The mutual trust between the bird Pokémon and Ash keep it from getting harmed, and it follows through with its move. A direct hit results in a sprawled out Fennekin, and Hawlucha lands behind her.

SERENA: Well played, but not enough! Fennekin, Fire Blast, six o'clock!

Fennekin suddenly whirls and spews a grand orb of pure fire which detonates on Hawlucha; when the dust clears, Hawlucha has fainted.
