September 1st, 2013 - Buckingham Palace

Today was the day Madison was called to Buckingham Palace to choose the tiara she would be wearing on the day of her wedding.

Walking through the halls of Buckingham Palace admiring all the historical paintings hung throughout the walls she took a deep breath, making her way to where the Queen was waiting for her.

Today's lunch was planned a few days ago with just enough time for Madison to be informed. She knew what the lunch was about.

With just a few weeks left until the wedding, there was one more major thing left for the Queen to do.

There was one thing that Madison needed for her special day and she could only use this special item with the Queen's blessing.

Finally reaching the room where the Queen was waiting for Madison, she took one deep breath before Edward opened the door to the drawing room.

"Miss Madison Nolan. Your Majesty." Edward announced, bowing to the Queen, both of them entering the blue drawing room of the Palace.

Madison curtsied to her soon to be grandmother-in-law before making her way over to the queen and pressing a kiss to her cheek.

"Ma'am," Madison politely greeted, before moving to take a seat. Madison felt a little nervous for today's lunch with the Queen; there was a lot of buzz about the up and coming royal wedding that was taking place in a few weeks.

There were a lot of articles being released the closer it got to the wedding. One article that was released on the 31st of August talked about who was going to be paying for the royal wedding, whether it was the royal family or with taxpayer money.

"So Madison, how is the wedding planning? You must be excited that your wedding is in a few weeks?" the Queen asked, knowing that the couple's wedding planning was coming close to an end.

"Wedding planning is coming along great, ma'am we're currently finalising all the details. We've gotten all RSVP's for the wedding, Catherine and I had our final dress fittings, as well as me and Christian decided on our cakes for the wedding." Madison explained to the Queen, letting her know where in the wedding planning they were up to and finalising.

"And what flavour did you both choose for the cakes?" the Queen asked. Her own wedding cake had been the traditional fruit cake, which is what most royal wedding cakes are.

"We chose the traditional fruit cake for our main wedding cake, and then at the reception we have chosen to have a separate cake for the guests as well, and Christian wanted to make sure that his favourite flavour of cake is present, which is red velvet." Madison informs the Queen of their chosen cake flavours.

"These are great cake choices you have both made. And it wouldn't be Christian if there wasn't a red velvet cake at the wedding. If there was ever a red velvet cake at any family dinners we always knew where Christian was going to be." the Queen laughs, telling her future granddaughter-in-law how obsessed her grandson is with red velvet cake.

"How many tiers is the wedding cake?" the Queen asked.

"The wedding cake is six tiers. And we are making sure to keep the top tier of our eldest child's christening, and the reception cake is three tiers." Madison said.

"Ah, great choice Madison." the Queen said, suddenly there was a gentle knock on the door of the drawing room. The door opened, at the entrance of the door was Angela Kelly, she entered the room with a cart that she pushed in front of her offering a curtsey to the Queen and a handshake to Madison.

"Thank you Angela, please place them out for me." the Queen asked with a polite smile across her face.

Angela Kelly had been the Queen's personal assistant and senior dresser ever since 1993, they had a few meetings and conversations about the pieces that could be offered to Madison today.

Madison watched carefully as Angela started setting out the chosen tiaras that had been chosen for her. She couldn't believe she was here today looking at options for tiara's that the Queen will lend her for her wedding day.

"Now Madison these are the options that we think are going to be the most acceptable options for you." the Queen said as she got to her feet making her way towards the selection of tiaras.

Madison followed the Queen over to where the tiaras were set out, she could feel all the nerves in her stomach. She has never seen such beautiful tiaras before and she never thought she would.

"We have the Strathmore Rose Tiara," the Queen said, showing Madison the first tiara from the chosen collection. The tiara originally belonged to Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, the mother of Queen Elizabeth II.

"The HoneySuckle Tiara," the Queen said, showing Madison the tiara which was commissioned by Queen Mary in by Garrard 1914.

"The Queen Mary Fringe tiara," the Queen said showing Madison the third tiara in the collection, this tiara was also worn on her own wedding day to Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh, it was also worn by Princess Anne on her wedding day to Mark Philips in 1973.

The tiara was last used by Her Majesty for a portrait for her diamond jubilee for New Zealand. The tiara was also often worn for white tie events.

Madison was feeling a little overwhelmed by all the tiara's that were set out in front of her. She didn't know which tiara to choose as it was a very big decision.

"How do you feel about these options, Madison?" the Queen asked. Interested to see Madison's opinion.

"These tiaras are all beautiful options ma'am. I'm honoured to wear one of them." Madison said, truly in awe of how beautiful all these tiaras are.

"Do you have any idea of which one you would like to wear?" The Queen asked, truly interested in which one Madison would choose.

"All these tiara's are beautiful options but... I feel like the Strathmore Rose Tiara is a beautiful option for me to wear. It would be an honour to wear it ma'am." Madison said, letting the Queen know which one she would like to wear.

The Queen smiled hearing which tiara Madison chose. The Queen agreed with the choice, she felt that the Strathmore Rose tiara was the better fit for her.

"Excellent choice Madison, and I am happy to lend you the tiara for your wedding day. You will truly look stunning in it." The Queen said.

The Queen couldn't be more proud of her grandson. He truly picked an amazing woman to marry and she was more than happy to approve of Christian wanting to propose to Madison back in 2012.

Now that Madison's tiara was officially chosen and it was officially set aside for her, waiting to be worn on her wedding day.
