Five Years Later

27 | Victory Trophy

To summarize the first race of the season, my teammates and I ended up winning the race against our school's rivals this past weekend. I still remember how my teammates and I screamed when we found out who had won, we were so excited. Once the screaming and excitement wore down a little bit, I took a couple of pictures individually with each one of my teammates holding the victory trophy and then we took a team picture with the coach.

As well, I took pictures with my family members, my boyfriend, my three best friends and lastly I took a picture with my coach. After all of my teammates had taken all the pictures that they wanted with the trophy. I handed our coach the victory trophy so she could put it in the trophy display along with the others trophies. To celebrate our win, the coach took the whole team to a celebratory dinner at one of our local restaurants. The past weekend started on a good note and ended on a good note as well.

And now it is Monday, I walked out from the school's building and entered the outdoor campus. I received a text message from my boyfriend informing me that he had left the school's ground to get our friend group lunch from our favorite fast food place. As well, I received another text message from Peyton telling me what table Tristan, Samuel and her were sitting down to eat our lunch.

I started heading towards the table where they were sitting down. As I got closer to their location, the first thing that I spotted was Peyton's blonde hair up in a high ponytail. However, she couldn't see me because her back was facing me.

"Hello, Peyton, Tristan and Sam." I greeted my best friends as I sat down next to Tristan. I took my backpack off my shoulders and placed it on the ground.

"Hello, Bree, how was your morning classes?" Tristan greeted me as he took a sip out from his water bottle.

"My morning classes were just normal, nothing important or interesting happened. What about yours?" I responded to Tristan's question, looking at him.

"Aubree, yeah, mine classes were the same as well." Tristan replied to my question, looking back at me.

"Bree, now that you are finally here. The only person that we are missing is Calvin." Peyton told me after her boyfriend had finished talking.

"Hello Pey." I greeted her, showing a wide smile. "Speaking of my boyfriend, on my way here, my boyfriend texted me to let me know that he was getting us lunch."

"It was between me or Calvin, and he ended up being the one who volunteered." Samuel told me, joining the conversation. "So, the three of us gave them the money and told him our orders we wanted and then he left."

"Calvin is such a great guy." Peyton told me, looking at me with a soft smile on her lips.

"I know but he is an amazing boyfriend as well." I told her, looking back at her and I returned her smile.

"What are you guys doing after school?" I asked my boyfriend and best friends as we started picking up our trash from the table.

The bell rang altering us that the lunch period was over and all of the students needed to be back inside of the school to continue with the rest of our classes.

"I don't have any plans other than going home the moment school is over." Samuel replied to my question before he threw his trash in a nearby trash can.

"I am completely free this entire afternoon, Bree." Peyton answered as she placed her backpack over her shoulders.

"Yeah, just like Samuel and Peyton, I didn't make any plans after school." Tristan replied, walking towards the nearby trash can and threw his trash out. At the same time, Samuel and Tristan returned to the table.

"Aubs, I was just planning on going home and working on some songs." My boyfriend replied to my question, he gave me a kiss on my check before he threw our trash away. "Baby why are you asking?"

"I am asking because I am wondering if all of you would like to come over to my house for dinner. I am pretty sure my parents would be super happy to have every single one of you guys over for dinner." I invited my best friends and my boyfriend, picking up my backpack from the ground and placing it over my shoulders.

"I am going to need to check with my parents but I will let you know what they say before the school day ends. I will see you guys later." Samuel said, quickly waving at us before turning around and walked towards the entrance.

"I already know what my parents are to say so I am in, Bree." Peyton told me, giving me a quick hug. "Bree and Cal, see you after school."

"You can count me in as well, Bree." Tristan told me as he waved at Calvin and I before him and his boyfriend started walking in the same direction Samuel went.

"What about you handsome boy?" I asked my boyfriend as the two of us started heading towards the entrance of school.

"I am always in to spend time with you. I will need to ask my parents first." My boyfriend replied to my question, placing an arm around my shoulders.

"Good to know that you love spending time with me, Cal. I can't wait to spend an evening with you and our best friends." I told him, laying my head on shoulder as we entered the school.

By the time I parked my car in my parent's driveway, there were three cars that I quickly recognized that were Peyton, Samuel and my boyfriend. I turned off my car, then retrieved my car's keys from the ignition. Before getting down from my car, I reached for my backpack from the seat beside me.

The moment my feet touched the ground, I looked towards my left and saw my boyfriend leaning his back against my car as he waited for me to get down from the car. "Nice to see you again Aubs."

I walked towards my boyfriend and gave him a soft hug. "Yeah, long time no see, it has been a long time since I last saw you." I told him with a little bit of sarcasm in my voice.

My boyfriend responded to my words by returning my hug and giving me a kiss on my forehead as we pulled away and started walking to where our best friends were.

"Are you guys ready for another dinner in the Emerson's household?" I asked them, standing in front of my boyfriend as he wrapped his arms around my waist.

"I am so ready to eat, your parent's cooking is to die for!" Tristan shared his answer with excitement clearly in his voice.

"I am glad to be back here, I have missed your parents." Samuel replied as he locked his car and made his way towards us.

"I am never going to turn down your parent's delicious food in my entire life. " Peyton said, earning a huge laugh from all of us.

"Then let's go inside, I am pretty sure that my parents must be wondering where we are." I told my best friends, I started making my way up the steps.

I retrieved my set of the keys from my backpack and opened the door. I entered into the house, I took my backpack off my shoulders and placed it in one of the hooks in the entry way.

As I heard the front door begin closed shut behind me, I saw my parents walking towards us to greet us with bright smiles on their faces. "Hello kids, how was school?" My father asked us.

"Hey dad, school was okay, nothing important happen." I replied to his question for my boyfriend and best friends.

"My husband and I are super happy that all of you are here to eat dinner with us. I hope you guys are hungry because I cooked Aubree's all time favorite food." My mother announced, joining the conversation.

My boyfriend, my best friends and I looked at each other with excitement on our faces before we followed my parents to the dining room.

I feel like Aubree's house would have the house that everyone in high school would like to come over.
