The driver drops us at my house and Sofia happily skips to my kitchen, holding her white silky dress up so it doesn't get dirty. By the time I close the front door and get to the kitchen, Sofia is on the counter with a bowl of ice cream in her hands and is enjoying it.
The taste of the desert lingers on my lips from our kiss. The more I think about it the more I want more. Like her lips are a drug and I'm an addict. I can't seem to get sick of them. But that doesn't mean I like the person.
"So when's the honeymoon?" Sofia asks staying with me. I looked up from her lips and met her eyes.
"What honeymoon?" I ask her.
"Our honeymoon? The one all married people go on after their wedding?" she looks at me like I'm crazy.
"I have work to do Sofia." I glance at her while I'm walking off and removing my black jacket.
"You always have work. Fucking workaholic," she grumbles.
"I'll be busy for a while, I put off some of my flights this past month so I'll be traveling a lot the next two months."
"Ok, I'll pack my bags. When are we leaving?" I turn to look at her in a glare.
"You will not be going, I will."
"Ok." she shrugs and she jumps off the counter and places her bowl in the sink.
I look at her suspiciously as she moves around the kitchen and to the stairs where I am standing.
"Are you going to move or what?" She deadpans looking up at me.
I roll my eyes and walk upstairs with Sofia walking behind me. Sofia already knows where to go and leads herself to the room she picked. The one right. Opposite. Mine.
She opens her door to see a bunch of boxes in her room, unpacked and scattered. She curses but flops down on the mattress tiredly. I open the door of my room and enter it. I take a quick shower and get ready for bed wearing a pair of grey sweats shirtless. The bed welcomed me and I almost passed out immediately.
Today drained us both for sure.
.............
Next morning
I'm busy making breakfast when I hear a loud groan, slam, and footsteps. No doubt belonging to the one other person that new lives here.
"Who the fuck is up this early." Sofia's groggy voice mumbles along with a sting or curse words.
There are a few more footsteps followed by multiple yawns. Sofia appears at the foot of the stairs facing towards me. She looks at me, her eyes trailing from the top to bottom.
"Shirtless really?"
"In my defense, I forgot you were here." I flip the pancake over and let it cook. I finally observed her this morning, she's wearing a cozy heart two-piece pj set and her hair is tied in a messy bun, she also has this set of fluffy shoes that look like clouds,
She rolls her eyes and takes a seat in the seat in front of me on the island. Her eyes look tired but her face looks stunning as always. She rests her head on the counter with her eyes closed.
"You look a mess," I say and her head snaps to look at me with the deadliest glare anyone can achieve.
"Fuck you, Alessandro." She flips me off.
"I'm sure you'd like to."
"Sure, when pigs fly." Sofia glares at me.
"Pancakes?" I ask her while making a plate. She nods but still manages to glare at me.
I set her a plate of pancakes and a glass of chocolate milk I'd guess she'd like. I also set a hot fudge near her and a few other sweet things. She physically brightens up and proves my theory that she has a sweet tooth.
"Mafia ball is in two weeks. We have to go as a couple." I lean on the counter drinking my coffee as Sofia eats her pancakes.
There's a glint that shimmers in her eyes when I mention the ball. Full of mischief and a visible plan lighting in her head.
"You're not doing anything this year. Your Dad mentioned your activities during these large events. I never went to them so I'm not sure how bad they are but I still don't want you doing anything." I warn her and the glint in her eyes deflates as a balloon.
"Asshole." She mumbles.
I ignore her and take a breath. I take a plate of pancakes and eat it next to Sofia in silence. I catch Sofia stealing glances at me while eating her pancakes. When I finish I get up to put my plate in the sink and grab my jacket that was hanging at the entrance of the kitchen.
"I'm leaving," I inform Sofia and she nods not moving.
I scan her once more and turn around to the main door. I don't expect her to say anything or do anything when I leave but there's something deep in me that felt, disappointed. It's not like Sofia is suddenly going to change now that we're married. Plus it's not like I even care if she says anything.
I took my keys from the shelf and was just about to step out when I felt a hand on my arm. I turn around questioning the person behind me. It's obviously Sofia, I can tell by the comforting feel of her hands, also the obvious fact that she's the only other person here.
Sofia looks around but keeps her hand on my arm. I raise an eyebrow and she finally looks up at me to meet my eyes. She opens her mouth to say something but closes it again. Her brain seems to be making multiple decisions, you can tell by the crease between her brows.
"Savanna and Riley are coming over to help me unpack. Ryan might come to." She says looking at me straight in my eyes.
"Ok." I turn around ready to leave yet again. I open the door then Sofia grabs my arm again.
"What?" I groan turning around to her.
She looks at me in the eyes with a slight glare. Then grabs my face seriously. I furrow my eyebrows thinking she's going to pinch or slap me. Instead, she places a kiss on my cheek and pinches me with her other hand.
"Thx for breakfast. Bye." She muttered and walked away leaving me alone at the door.
I touch my cheek in shock and confusion and finally step out of the car. The whole ride to the office Sofia was on my mind. Till her pinch started to sting. Of course, she would kiss someone and pinch them at the same time. That's just her.
But she also pisses me off.
Which is why I would never get close to her and we can't possibly ever act like a couple. Ever.
