The relentless ringing of the doorbell jolts me awake

The relentless ringing of the doorbell jolts me awake. I reluctantly reach for my gun and trudge down the stairs. As I swing the door open, it slams against the wall with a resounding thud. Standing on the other side is Savanna, Sofia's loyal follower, her arms defiantly crossed.

"We're leaving," she declares, her gaze unwavering. She notices the gun in my hand and meets my glare with audacity.

As if her presence didn't already ruin my morning.

"Where is everyone else?" I demand.

"They sent me to wake you up," she responds coolly.

I scoff, "They're using you as a sacrifice. If you value your life, I suggest you don't accept a request like that."

"Sure, you wouldn't actually do anything to me," she retorts confidently.

"I'd do it without hesitation," I assert, glancing at Sofia's bike as I make my way out.

She falls silent for a moment, then smirks.

"Missing your wife already? It's only been a month."

"I do not," I deny firmly.

"Keep telling yourself that," she teases, a knowing smirk playing on her lips.

I ignore her and walk to the car. Over the past weeks, Sofia's fucking minion has been ordering me around like I'm her fucking worker. If she wasn't Sofia's friend and Riley wasn't here, I swear, I would have shot her dead already.

The bitch hates me for no reason and thinks she is in charge of getting Sofia back. Like Sofia is her fucking wife or some shit.

We arrived at the warehouse and were greeted by the rest of the team. Louis led the hackers who were responsible for keeping Sofia's location steady at all times. They had a unique method of contacting Sofia through a chip with vibrations, allowing us to hear what was happening around her. Although we haven't made contact with her today, we did speak to her five days ago just to give her a heads-up.

The fighting team consisted of more than half of my Mafia men, all prepared to rescue their boss's wife. Impatiently, I went over the plan with them, while Savanna gave orders to the other groups. Once I finished, Savanna began her detailed speech about how the plan would unfold. As the leader of the combat group, she took her responsibility very seriously.

Leaving the building, I made my way to the waiting helicopter. We had decided that using any other vehicle than a helicopter would make it nearly impossible to sneak in and rescue Sofia with 70% of us surviving.

The helicopter was stocked with guns, weapons, and knives, placed in every corner. I noticed a hook that usually remained empty but now held a black and gold sniper rifle, with "Sofia Garcia" written in gold on the side. I had never thought of Sofia as a sniper.

"Location?" Riley asked Chloé, who was sitting with her computer on the passenger seat.

Other than them, the helicopter is still empty.
