GLASIE'S POV:

"Who's driving next?" Rowan asked.

"I'm looking at the girl in the blue flannel." Alex rolled his eyes.

"The one with war paint on her face?" Strawberry smirked.

"Exactly."

I sighed and started driving towards the blue dot. I had to find Nick before Ace and Ryan could mess with him. But it was almost 4 AM and I was half asleep.

"Alex... Can you drive for me?" I looked back at Alex, who had crashed on the bunk bed closest to where I was sitting.

"Yeah, whatever." I switched with Alex and flopped down on the bottom bunk.

I wasn't scared for Nick's safety. I was determined. I was courageous. My fire was still burning. I hoped Nick still had the same fire of determination. I didn't want his tiny flame of hope and courage to die out. If that happened... Who even knows. I already know that he can be suicidal, and I don't want to think of what would happen if he lost his tiny spark of determination.

My bravery was a bonfire. Swallowing up everything in existence. A volcano. Nick's could have been an ice candle. Definitely not as strong at all.

"How much further west is there?" Alex continued chasing the blue dot.

"Not much." Rowan shrugged.

Alex nodded and kept driving silently.

••_ANOTHER POV_••

I looked up at Ryan's burn scarred and stone cold face. I thought of the scars on my chest from the danger acid. Maybe scars were something we had in common.

"Get up." Ryan hissed.

I stood up silently from where I was crouched in the corner of a dark room.

"You call that standing?" Ryan scoffed.

I could barely breathe. I was sure I was dying for real now.

"Follow me. Ace's orders."

"Is... Is th... Is this some kind of... Sick joke...?" It actually took me a while to ask that question.

"Actually, yes. Minus the joke. I'm sorry..."

I didn't follow Ryan.

"You're making me do this." Ryan sighed. He dragged me by my arm with an unbreakable grip out into the hallway.

I could barely see what was going on. I had double black eyes from a bumpy and painful car ride and everything was fading anyway.

"Take him." Ryan transferred me to Ace.

I collapsed to the ground in the same small room.

"Yep! Do that. That's fine. It's your last time to gather any confidence anyway."

"Wh... Where's... Where's Glas...?"

"Not here. She's safe for now. But once we're done with you... Who knows."

I had to be strong through this. I had to survive.

"Aehlocai tells me you think about your scars a lot. She says you're self conscious. She says you're suicidal."

I didn't look up.

"So I'm gonna make this worse for you. Can you show me where they are?"

I pointed weakly to the various locations of the scars on my chest.

"You're hardcore, kid, for wanting me to cut through your shirt."

I didn't care.

Ace dragged me to the nearest wall, where he duct taped my hands behind my back.
