"Tonight's gonna suck." I sighed, punching a pillow from the center of the mega couch.
"Just sleep through it, you can cuddle with your boyfriend all day tomorrow." Alex smirked.
"First part yeah, second part... Also yeah. I know you were trying to be sarcastic, but nice job."
"I win again, Glas."
"Whatever. I'm gonna sleep."
"It's only like 8 though!"
"I haven't slept for real in like two days. And you said to sleep through it!"
"Yeah, you win."
I ended up crashing on the couch sometime within the next twenty minutes.
••ANOTHER POV••
Cassi and I were sitting on the floor with Nick. He still would barely answer us.
"Are you okay?" I asked, trying to sound as kind and friendly as possible.
Nick nodded, staring at the floor. If Glasie were here, he would have told us everything. But we were trying to separate them for Nick's safety.
"Can you try to tell us some things... About why...?"
"Y-Yeah... I'll-- I'll try."
"Thanks.... Okay. So... Why are you suddenly happy and chill when you're around Glasie?"
"S-She makes me feel... Worth it. Like I actually mean something."
I didn't know how to respond. I looked over at Cassi.
"Uhm... Arabelle... I think we should just leave him alone. Obviously talking about Glasie is making him a little upset." Cassiopeia suggested.
"Alright. Milkshakes?"
Nick shrugged, staring at the floor.
"Conference." I said to Cassi and crept over to the back room.
Cassi followed me and closed the door, leaving us in a dark supply closet.
"This isn't good." I whispered.
"What isn't good?"
"He's not answering..."
"Yeah, that's bad."
"What do we do?"
"Try to understand what he's feeling, I guess."
"Yeah, sure, Cassi."
"Either that or attempting to get him to actually sleep without Glasie."
"We could try both."
"Yeah, but start up the milkshakes. Pretend this conference was all about milkshakes."
I grabbed a bunch of random items and dashed out of the back room. I started making milkshakes as Cassi tried to get Nick to answer.
"Feeling any better?" Cassi asked.
Cassi looked over at me. I shrugged sadly.
"Could you try to answer?" Cassi smiled kindly while asking the same question we've been asking all along.
"Y-Yeah." Nick didn't look up from where he was face planted into the blankets.
"Alright, I'm not gonna ask you anything, but if we ask you anything later... Please answer."
Cassi walked over to me.
"Conference." She sighed.
"What's up?"
