- First encounter-

"Are you sure this is a good idea? What if your sister catches us? God, Orm, we will be dead," Prigkhing whispered, her voice laced with anxiety as they crept through the dimly lit yard.

Orm rolled her eyes, stifling a laugh. "Shhhh! Stop saying that, Pri, and watch your steps." She tugged her friend along, feeling the thrill of sneaking out without her sister's iron gaze weighing on her.

The night was cool, and the distant sound of crickets filled the air. They reached the car parked a few houses down, and Orm slid into the driver's seat, starting the engine with a grin. "Wasn't that hard, was it? And please, Yoko is wearing her new nightgown, so it's the perfect timing. I'm sure Sister is too busy to think of me right now."

Prigking shook her head, still uneasy. "But if she does, we're dead," she muttered, sinking into her seat.

Orm cranked up the volume on the car stereo, drowning out Prigking's worries with upbeat music. "Come on, babe, we're here to have fun. Stop thinking about my sister. And I'm not a kid anymore—I can do whatever I want. It's my life!"

She could feel Prigking's tension beside her, but Orm wasn't going to let that ruin her night. She was 21, for crying out loud. She had a right to some freedom. Maybe yes, she was scared of Faye, just a little. Or maybe it was just because Faye had always been there, filling in for their absent parents, making sure Orm had everything she needed. Or maybe it was because Faye was terrifying when she got angry.

But not tonight. Tonight was about fireworks and fun, and nothing was going to spoil it.

"Shake it off, Prig. WE ARE GOING TO SEE SOME FIREWORKS, WOOO!" Orm yelled, her voice full of excitement as they sped toward the lake.

The night sky was already ablaze with the vibrant colors of fireworks as they joined their friends at the lake. The sound of laughter and the crackling of firecrackers filled the air, and for a while, Orm forgot about everything else.

But then, disaster struck.

A rogue firework shot off course, arcing wildly toward the group. "Run!" Jackson shouted, and they all scattered, laughing and screaming as they tried to dodge the flashing light.

Orm's laughter turned to a scream as she tripped and fell, pain shooting up her leg as a sharp stick embedded itself deep into her flesh. "Shit!" she cried, clutching her leg, blood oozing between her fingers.

Prigkhing was by her side in an instant, her face pale. "Orm! Oh my god, are you okay?"

"I'm not okay!" Orm snapped, tears of pain and fear welling in her eyes. "What are we going to do?"

Panic set in as the realization hit them. They were out late without Faye knowing, at the forbidden lake, with some guys—

Jackson panicked, hitting his friend arm, " Shit! we're sorry, Orm, but we have to go or your sister will kill us" as they bolted away, pulling each other.

Prigkhing looked around desperately. "We need help. Orm, we need to get you to a hospital."

"How?" Orm gasped, the pain in her leg intensifying. "We're miles away from anything!"

" Stupid assholes! those the guys you were dying to hang out with, cowards. " Prig scolded, rubbing her best friend back as if making things better.

Just as the situation seemed hopeless, a figure emerged from the darkness. A tall, athletic woman, her breath coming in steady puffs as if she had been out for a late-night run, approached them.
