Ling wiped the sweat off her brow, trying to stay focused, but between Freen's taunts and Becky's enthusiastic cheering from the sidelines, it was nearly impossible. Freen, as usual, was all confidence, moving effortlessly in the ring while Becky bounced around outside, practically buzzing with excitement
.
"Come on, Freen! Knock her out, baby!" Becky yelled, jumping up and down. Her eyes sparkled as she shamelessly bit her lip checked out her wife in those tight shorts. "You're looking so damn sexy right now!"
Freen threw a fly kiss to her wife, returning her attention to Ling smirking, throwing a playful jab at Ling, who dodged it lazily. "You lose, you call Earn. No backing out."
Ling, already distracted, huffed. "Yeah, yeah. I know."
Becky, still hyped, cupped her hands around her mouth and screamed, "You got this, babe! Finish her off, and we can really celebrate later."
As soon as the match ended, Becky didn't waste a second. She practically jumped into the ring, wrapping her arms around Freen's neck and kissing her teasingly. "You were amazing, baby! You looked so fucking hot." She giggled.
Freen grinned, lifting Becky up slightly and spinning her around. "You were amazing too cheering for me" she said, but her eyes softened as she hungirly kissed her back.
Making Ling gag at sight.
She rolled her eyes dramatically as she leaned against the ropes. "Ugh, you two are so annoying. Get a room, seriously."
Becky just winked at her. "Jealous much, Ling? You need to get yourself a hottie to distract you like this."
Freen looked back at her friend, " Uh-huh that hottie better be Earn. Come on Kwong call her already"
"Fine, fine, I'm calling." She prayed under her breath that Earn wouldn't pick up. Maybe she could leave a voicemail, something casual. But no, the universe had other plans. she kept muttering under her breath, Please don't pick up, please don't pick up...
The line clicked, and Ling's heart skipped a beat when she heard Earn's familiar, sweet voice. "Hello? Who's this?"
Ling froze. She awkwardly cleared her throat, stepping out of the boxing ring while Freen watched, her arms crossed and a knowing smirk plastered on her face.
"Hey, it's... uh, Lingling Kwong," she finally said, her voice embarrassingly soft.
There was a slight pause on the other end. "Doctor Kwong" Orm said, her tone light with a hint of amusement. Ling could hear faint laughter in the background, probably Orm's friends hanging out.
Ling mentally kicked herself, suddenly feeling out of place. "Yeah, um... sorry to call. You sound like you're busy. I can call later if—"
"No, no, it's fine," Orm interrupted quickly, her voice warm. "It's just my friends being silly. What's up?"
Ling's pulse quickened. She shifted awkwardly on her feet, eyes darting back to Freen, who mouthed 'ask her out already!' Ling turned away, trying to compose herself. "I, uh... I was just wondering how you've been. I haven't seen you around the hospital lately."
Orm chuckled softly on the other side, and Ling could practically hear her smile. "Oh, you miss me, Doctor?"
Ling froze, unsure how to respond. Did she miss her? Of course, she did. But saying it out loud felt way too vulnerable. She stayed quiet, the awkward silence stretching just long enough for her to curse herself internally.
Sensing the tension, Earn spoke up again, her voice teasing. "You there, Doctor? Or did you pass out from missing me too much?"
Ling exhaled sharply, finally finding her voice. "Very funny..." she paused, then blurted, "Let's have the dinner tonight."
