"So how did the meeting with our new allies go?" Morgan asked as she sat across from me after Preston and I had returned from our meeting with Alpha Dawson.

"Good," I replied, flipping open one of the many folders piled up on my desk. "How's training coming along?"

Morgan leaned back in her chair, her expression thoughtful. "It's progressing well. The newer recruits are starting to get the hang of the basics. I think by next week we should be able to begin more advanced techniques."

I nodded, appreciating her dedication. "That's good to hear. We need everyone to be sharp, especially with the potential alliance on the horizon."

She smiled, her eyes bright with enthusiasm. "Absolutely. I think if we can build a strong relationship with Riverside, it will only enhance our training capabilities. Plus, they have some experienced fighters among their ranks."

I ran a hand through my hair, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "That's exactly what I was thinking. Having access to their training methods and insights could really give us an edge."

Morgan leaned forward, her elbows resting on the desk. "So, what did Alpha Dawson say about the alliance? It seemed like he was quite intrigued."

"He was," I replied, glancing at the stack of papers I had to review. "We discussed our mutual interests and the benefits of working together. They're facing some challenges of their own, and we believe that by supporting each other, we can create a stronger front against any potential threats."

"Sounds promising," she said, a smile creeping onto her face. "You know, it's nice to see our pack expanding its connections. I think it will lead to a brighter future for all of us."

I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride at her words. "I agree. Building alliances is crucial, especially in our situation."

Morgan hesitated for a moment before continuing, "And how is Preston handling everything? I know this alliance means a lot to him too."

I paused, thinking back to Preston's bright eyes during the meeting. "He's doing well. He was quite vocal during our discussions, and I think Alpha Dawson appreciated his insights. It's good for him to feel included and valued in these matters."

A playful grin spread across Morgan's face. "I can't believe how far he's come since joining our pack. He's fitting in so seamlessly."

I chuckled, the memory of Preston's initial hesitations flooding my mind. "Yeah, it's been incredible to watch. He's really embraced being a part of our family."

Morgan's gaze turned serious, her expression softening. "I'm glad you two found each other. It's clear you care for him deeply."

I nodded, my heart warming at the thought. "He brings out the best in me. I couldn't imagine navigating all this without him by my side."

At that moment, the door swung open, and Preston stepped inside, his face lighting up when he saw me. "Hey, I didn't know you were in here!"

I smiled, feeling a rush of joy at his presence. "Just talking with Morgan about the meeting. How did your debrief go?"

Preston shrugged, leaning against the doorframe with a casual ease. "It went well. I think everyone is on the same page about moving forward with the alliance. Also, I heard some interesting stories about Riverside's past that I think will be beneficial for us."

Morgan raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Like what?"

He stepped into the room and pulled up a chair, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Apparently, they faced a pack of rogue wolves a few years back and managed to fend them off with the help of their allies. They learned some vital strategies during that time that could prove useful for us."
