Chapter 16

The moment we stepped inside the cafeteria, it got pin-drop silent, as if a child got caught read-handed by the teacher he was secretly bad mouthing.

Though none of us stopped to stare. And leona's warm arm around my waist was helping me with my nerves as well.

After we both grabbed our tray of food, I finally let my eyes wonder around the cafeteria. Not to watch every faces and expression but to search for some certain people.

It didn't take me long to spot them as they were literally giving an unearthy vibe that makes them stand out from everyone, not to mention that their eyes were on us too.

I start walking over to them with leona who let me lead her silently. When we reached the table, I took a seat in one of the few empty chair and leona sat beside me while setting her tray down.

The only one occupying the table are us five now since no one else dares to. For different reason, of course.

No one wanted to be Leona's target.

Therefore, as much as everyone was eager to be close to us, the fear for their life made invisible bars between us.

Though just because my mate won't bully me anymore, doesn’t means the situation has changed as well.

It goes without any saying that anyone who tries to get close to me will face leona's warth. And it seems like everyone caught on that too, even though they still aren’t too detailedly Informed About our relationship, thus the unanswered curiosity.

Well, none of us are going to explain shit to them so I hope they enjoy disappointment.

I grin looking at my family. “Hey! How are you all? Didn't saw you guys since morning!"

Xenha grumbles. “You would've if you weren’t so busy with your mate." Kaya chuckles at that while Xover shakes his head with a smile.

“Though that was unnecessary. The thing you did in the morning." Xov says while narrowing his eyes at me.

A chuckle comes from beside me which makes a blush come over my cheeks automatically. I grin cheekily at them anyway. “Well, It was hilarious." I giggle remembering some of it. “Right, sweetness?"

A hum of agreement comes from leona which made me give them the ‘see?' look.

Xover rolls his eyes and Xenha hisses at me, clearly still not over the supposedly trauma I gave them. Though kaya seems fine now. I think as I watch kaya shake her head with a amused expression at our interaction. But it turns stern as soon as it turned on me. Or not.

“I've never choked like that in my whole life. I felt like i was dying!" She huffs while complaining.

I look at her in disbelief. “Never?"

“Never." She deadpans.

I look back at Xover who was chewing his burger distastefully, clearing still stubbornly upset. “I must say I'm disappointed in you, brother."

A few seconds of silence passes before my words registers around the people in the table. For the second time in a day, Xovers loud gagging and coughing sound fills the room except It's a public place this time.

The cafeteria grows silent for the second time in row as Xover's choking noise, Kaya's gasp and Xenha's groan echoes around the room.

A snort and then laugher gets followed by it from the person next to me. I look over at leona as a smile slowly spreads on my lips. She was a little bent over as she laughed like there is no tomorrow. The sound of it and the face that owned it enchanted me so much that I could swear I could watch and hear it the whole day.
