Kingdom of Fenn
Capitol Amanocki, Jinshou Castle
After a short run-in with the Fennese Navy the Viridian delegation was escorted to Amanocki. Once there they immediately started negotiations.
"Welcome to Fenn I am Lead Diplomat Kirito."
"Thank you I am Foreign Minister Tyrael."
"Please follow me." Kirito led them to a matted room and sat them at a table and took the other side. "I hear that you have made a deal with Qua-Toyne."
"Indeed we have and we were hoping to cut a similar deal with you."
"That is interesting, why do you think it would benefit us?"
The sudden and slightly hostile question threw Tyrael off. Why were they acting this way? Did they find out? Did the Qua-Toynians betray them already? Questions rushed through his head like a dope hit sending him mentally rearing. But he was still the Foreign Minister so he pushed forward with an answer.
"Well for starters we know that you are experiencing some unwanted pressure from Parapaldia. We are offering you an out in exchange for docking rights and trade deals." Tyrael explained bluntly. They didn't seem like the type to tolerate the usual niceties.
Kirito displayed a thoughtful expression while assessing the new arrivals. These newcomers just show up with these immense metal boats and have magical creatures at their beck and call. On the one hand it meant that this country was at least technologically more powerful than them. But in terms of their societies Fenn surely had the edge. No country that relies on magical creatures in civilian and even in military matters couldn't be strong in spirit enough to last in the third civilized area he thought to himself.
The man in front of him acted proper but he could tell he was holding a lot back. He could practically feel the underhanded aura around him. However as tradition dictates he will put him through the customary trial.
"I will bring your proposal but before we consider it you must pass a test given to all diplomats who deal with Fenn."
"And what might that be?" Tyrael was at this point a little irritated. No way they got an attitude only to immediately put me through some probably stupid primitive test Tyrael thought. This small little island country had the gaul to not only open their first negotiations slightly hostile but they now want to put him through a trial!
"It will be a duel between you and the Sword King. The test will be decided by the contents of the dual, not the results." Kirito explained.
So a test of strength huh Tyrael thought unamused. "And the rules?"
"Only that there are no serious injuries and or deaths and no firearms, other than that you are free to fight as you want." Kirito explained.
"Sounds good" Tyrael responded with a grin, eager to show the Sword King his unhappiness with his treatment. Actions always did speak louder than words. He thought it a shame he had to hold his pokemon back, lest he destroy this rickety castle.
Kirito led him into a training room where the Sword King was waiting. He was a tall muscular man with a trained posture. He seemed the embodiment of the warrior the whole country wanted to be.
"Pleased to meet you, I am Sword King Shihan and the Apex Warrior of the Kingdom of Fenn." Sword King Shihan greeted.
"Thank you, I am Executive and Foreign Minister Tyrael Kingston of the Viridian Empire."
"Well then Mr. Kingston, choose your weapon." Shihan said, gesturing to a rack of wooden weapons.
Tyrael walked over and took a curved short sword and readied a pokeball.
"You're going to have your creature fight as well?" Shihan asked.
"Aye," Tyrael said with a smile, opening it in his hand. "Crobat is my partner and we take on anything and anyone together."
They then took starting positions and Kirito counted them down.
"3, 2, 1... Begin!" He shouted.
Man, I don't know how to use a sword. What am I supposed to do? Tyrael thought. He then started running in an ark toward Shihan. He then abruptly stopped and shouted.
"Crobat use Air Cutter!" Crobat then shot sawblades of compressed air at Shihan.
Shihan was able to channel magic into his sword and deflect the attack.
"So you got tricks too huh?" Tyrael said annoyed.
"I do not use TRICKS! I have developed these skills from years of battle." Shihan retorted, his emotions seeping out in the intensity of battle.
"Well now don't hate on tricks too much it's how I got where I am." Tyrael joked while holding up his hands. He then held up his sword sideways. "Crobat use Poison Fang on my sword."
Light purple fangs appeared around Crobat. It then dove down with them and bit Tyrael's sword. The sword then slowly turned purple down to the hilt.
"Crobat use Cross Poison."
"Your proxy creature is no match for me." Shihan roared and swung his sword and skillfully slashed Crobat to the side. He then rushed forward to attack Tyrael. They locked swords but then quickly disengaged. They then clashed quickly a few more times before Tyrael disengaged. If it wasn't for my advanced field training I would have lost forever ago He thought.
"Crobat use Haze." A dense white icy mist filled the room. Tyrael, being used to fighting in the Haze, ran and jumped to attack Shihan again. When Tyrael started fighting him again he noticed that Shihan was slightly slower, weaker, and more rigid. So moves can affect magic in the same way it affects other moves. Not only that it can affect the magic users of this world but it can apply the same buffs, debuffs, and affects. Archers people will have a field day researching this Tyrael thought. This was paired with the poison in his sword, from Crobats Poison Fang, was now corroding Shihans sword.
"What up Sword King, can't take a little cold." Tyrael teased.
"Your pokemons magics are impressive but," Shihan kicked Tyrael in the chest and then stuck hard with his sword with it barely being blocked. "you still are far behind in skill."
"Well then it's a good thing Team Rocket has an endless repertoire of tricks! Crobat use Double Team and Supersonic." many copies of Crobat suddenly appeared then they all made a horrible screeching noise at the Sword King. Tyrael then ran up and made a large and powerful sideswipe down at Shihans left shoulder.
Shihan then uttered some unintelligible words and swiftly blocked Tyrael and seemed to be able to fully ignore Crobats Supersonic.
"What the!" Tyrael was caught off guard by the Sword King's recovery.
Shihan in a fluid motion disarmed Tyrael and held him at his sword's point.
"Alright you got me. I concede." Tyrael declared.
Shihan lowered his sword while Tyrael returned Crobat to its pokeball.
"You have unfortunately failed the test." Shihan revealed.
"What! How? I had you on the ropes for a minute there. You CAN'T say I didn't have a good showing of power."
"The test was not of power but of your conduct. Your performance in the bout shows us that you and your country are weak and do not value honor. You rely too heavily on tricks and your 'pokemon'. Those creatures are impressive but it was a much bigger challenge than you were. If you actually fought with honor, without your pokemons help, you would have been defeated even faster. Therefore Fenn will have no business with the Viridian Empire! You may take your leave." Shihan criticized.
Tyrael was shocked and angry. Just you wait, I'll get my get back. "You will come to regret your choices to humiliate me today." He growled and stormed out of the castle.
