While watching her retreating back,I remember my cheeks flushed a soft red, I couldn't help but smile to myself. All these months, this girl has never once failed to stir something in me-whether it was her looks, her conversations, or that effortless talent of hers.
She has always had this strange power over me, making my heart race with just a glance or a word. But today... today was different. Today, she made me realize that she even has the ability to make me blush. Me, the Devyaan Shetty, caught off guard like some smitten fool.
Devara! What would I even do without her in my life?
Even though I tried to appear all confident and jolly, laughing along with her, but every time she smiled, every time she laughed, that haunting image of her drowning from earlier this evening flashed in my mind.
It was like a shadow I couldn't shake. I kept trying to lighten the mood, cracking jokes, acting like everything was normal, but deep down, I couldn't figure out if I was doing it to comfort her or myself.
Maybe I just needed the reassurance that she was safe, right here with me, and not slipping away again.
My Sprinkles is the strongest girl I've ever known. Seeing her shivering, so fearful, it terrified me. I couldn't stop thinking, How am I going to bring her back to normal?
Never in my worst nightmares had I imagined seeing her like this. But even in that moment, she showed her strength. Instead of breaking down or crying at her misery, which I wouldn't have minded if she had-because that's normal-she stood up boldly, determined as ever.
She didn't let it consume her. Instead, she was ready to call out their behavior, facing it head-on. That's just who she is-brave, resilient, and so much stronger than I could've imagined.
And even though I know she'll definitely confront Aanya for what she did, there's no way I'm just going to sit back and watch everything unfold.
I've already got Ahaan and Naman working on it-collecting the security footage from Aanya's farmhouse and arranging everything we need to make sure she learns a lesson, a good one.
One that'll not only make her forget about repeating such a stunt but ensure she never even dares to look at my Sprinkles with ill intentions again. She messed with the wrong person, and this time, I'm stepping in.
"Devyaan!" My mum's voice pulled me from my thoughts.
"Yes, mum? Do you need something?" I asked, trying to seem alert. She gave me a gentle knock on the head and said, "Do I only come to you when I need help?"
My eyes widened slightly-it wasn't entirely false, but am I going to argue about it? Not unless I want to get scolded at my age.
"No, mum, that's not what I meant," I quickly replied.
