Chapter 32. Evil doesn't rest

Isaac, Clover, Felicia, and Pam were now escorting Yumi and Leonov inside the drill dozer. No demon could harm them so long as they're inside.

Isaac: Alright, what's the plan, guys?

Yumi A group rich and greedy assholes robbed us and stole everything we had. They took them over to the football stadium and blew up all the roads to the stadium so that they could keep the goods for themselves and no could get inside.

Leonov: That's why me and Yumi were originally gonna go to the stadium and fight to get our stuff back.

Pam: You two against them? How many of these guys are there?

Leonov: Dozens of them, and they're armed with heavy laser guns. We've tried to negotiate, but they refused. They couldn't care less if the world burns so long as they have what they want.

Isaac: Doesn't matter. We'll kill our way through them and get your stuff back. That's a promise.

There was nothing left to do but wait until they reach the stadium.

Back at the mall, Tanisha was doing sword practice inside the gym of the mall. She used a wooden sword to swing against a plastic dummy. For her final move, she swinged her sword against the head and shattered it. Running out of breath, she sat down to drink some water. Kevin shows up while looking worried.

Kevin: Hey, have you seen Pam? Or Isaac and Clover?

Tanisha: They're gone. Isaac wanted to help Yumi and Leonov with their problem.

Kevin: And you didn't go with him?

Tanisha: I have Duke and Kyle to look after. And even if I didn't, I've decided to make it my sole duty to protect them.

Kevin: You really love them, huh? That's very noble of you.

Tanisha: It's deeper than that, Kev. Those boys give me purpose. Watching them, keeping them save, and any other orphans I find. I know I'm not they're mom, but I can still do my part and protect them until they're ready to make it on their own. God knows I can't handle watching a child die from a demon.

Her words ran deep. Kevin could see that Tanisha's only happiness is protecting innocent children. And then Maige shows up while carrying two whiskey shots.

Maige: Hiya, guys! Wanna get fucked up?

Tanisha: What is with you, Maige? Every single day you keep behaving reckless and wild non-stop. Last night, you fired off a rocket launcher from the roof just because you were bored!

Maige: My bad, fellas. I know I'm impulsive, but I can't help it. That's why I joined the Marines, at least they don't care how much of a badass I am. But after Pam became my colonel, she kept my ass on a tight leash.

Kevin: I take it that Pam couldn't stand you at first.

Maige: Nope, she hated my ass. But we're real tight now. Semper fi, baby! She saved my ass more times than I did. And she knows I've got her back no matter the trouble.

Cultist: Nobody move!!

Out of nowhere, three members of the Chosen came storming into the gym with plasma rifles. It was too late for everyone to run or arm themselves. But none of the cultists opened fire. That only means that they didn't break into the mall to kill.

Maige: Damn it, how are people breaking inside my mall!?

Cultist: Shut up, bitch! Where the hell is the book?!

Kevin: What are you talking about?!

Cultist 2: The Forbidden Knowledge, the book that Succoria made! Dana wants it, now!
