Travis wasn't the most cooperative patient, but after a day or two he really understood that I was not letting him go back to work until he'd healed. He relented, letting me play nurse and take care of him. He got someone from his office to bring over some of his things since I insisted on him staying with me, and he relented to my fussing. Mom left two days after arriving, and I hugged her when she left, but we didn't say anything. She wasn't happy.
I still went to work, wanting to keep saving my money, and I left every time making Travis promise to stay off his feet. He always said he wouldn't move unless he had to go to the bathroom, and I always came home to find him in a different spot. But I didn't bother trying to argue with him about that. He really was putting up with me a lot more than anyone else would.
A few days later, I got home at two in the morning from a shift, tiptoeing with my shoes in my hand across to my bedroom. Selena was busy at work so I really didn't want to wake her up, and Travis needed all the rest he could get. But when I opened my bedroom door, I found my boyfriend wide awake, his computer on his lap. He glanced up when I came in, a guilty expression flashing across his face.
"Yeah, I'd hope so." I sighed, closing the door. "We said you wouldn't work baby, what's going on?" I asked as I dropped my shoes into the basket and sat down next to him.
"Kitten." Travis kissed my cheek. "You know business doesn't stop for a stab wound. I'm not doing much, just organizing a few things with some staff so they can take care of it for me.
"Fine." I relented, automatically reaching over and lifting his shirt slightly to check on the dressing over his wound I'd changed before going to work. "Does it feel any worse?" I asked, like I always did. Travis shook his head. "Good." I sighed, letting his shirt drop. "I'm going to have a shower, and when I'm back the computer goes away."
"Look at us." Travis chuckled as I got to my feet. "What, two weeks in and we're already acting like a married couple."
"Shut it." I swatted his arm. "I'm just looking after you, because if you had your way you'd be back at work."
Travis smirked, catching my wrist and pulling me back down onto the bed with him. I quickly caught myself before I landed on top of him, not wanting to bump his side. Travis pulled my lips to his, kissing me softly, and I sighed as I relented. He had to be so bored stuck in the apartment all day, and I knew Selena was a little wary of him. She wasn't unsupportive, but she'd got the sense that Travis came with danger, and she was a lot smarter than I was. She was keeping a little distance.
"Okay." Travis murmured a long moment later. "You can go now little kitten."
I blushed like I always did at the nickname, smiling to myself as I turned for the door. I could feel Travis' eyes on me as I left, watching me as he always did when he got the opportunity. Honestly, it had been so hard keeping to the no sex rule that I'd put in place after the first day of Travis being here. He took many opportunities to try and drag me into bed with him, but I refused to do anything that might injure him. Travis never pushed it, but I knew as soon as I let him, we wouldn't leave the bedroom for a long time.
I showered quickly, washing my hair clean of the bar smell that clung to it and drying it as best I could with the towel. I didn't want to wake Selena with the hairdryer, so I gave up when my hair was about two thirds dry and went back to my room with slightly damp curls. It was always curly once I'd washed it and flattened out a little as it dried, which annoyed me, but when I'd mentioned buying a straightener Travis hadn't let me. Apparently he loved my hair.
"There's my little curly kitten." He murmured when I walked into my room, and I gave him a flirty smile as I crossed to my drawers, wrapped in my towel. "How about we try a night without clothes?" Travis suggested as I grabbed my little singlet and shorts set.
