After Vikrant's 'We have a problem.' message, I received 10+ messages from him the very next second, sending my phone into a notification-al havoc. I silenced the phone quickly and leaned forward to check on Naina and Zoro. Luckily, both of them were still fast asleep.

I need to check those messages ASAP.

I held Naina's hands gently, unclasping their Koala hold from my arm. She mumbled something gibberish in her sleep, causing me to let out a breathy chuckle. I held her face next, gently removing it from my shoulder and placing it on the backrest.

Her brows scrunched in her sleep, expressing her annoyance for the interruption. Before she wakes up and annihilates me, I reach my hand to caress her head, stroking it delicately. An amused smile emerged on my lips as I looked at the variety of her sleepy expressions.

After a few seconds, her brows relaxed, softening her expression like before. I stayed there for a while, looking at her, with budding panic in my mind. With every passing second, the fear and curiosity about Vikrant's messages thickened in me, causing my heart to race in trepidation.

What does 'We have a problem.' mean?

Is it happening already? Even though I haven't seen the messages yet, it's very obvious that the messages are related to the current scandal, and it's stirring a weird sense of panic in me. I always thought that I'll be able to handle whatever they'll throw my way and honestly, I will, but the fact that our future is so unpredictable is making me anxious.

It's like I want to open those messages, but at the same time, I don't want to know if our truth has been exposed.

Par pata toh karna padega.

With a deep breath, I made up my mind to go read those messages, and clear all my confusion at once. I broke out of my trance and shifted my gaze back to Naina. The serene look on her face as she slept peacefully made me happy but anxious at the same time.

I just wish those messages don't ruin this serenity.

With an erratically beating heart, I stood up, looking at Naina and Zoro one last time before turning around to walk out of the room.

Waheguru, please, let this be something else.

After closing the door behind me, I took a deep breath to compose my inner turmoil and unlocked my phone. With a panic-stricken mind, I opened Vikrant's DM.

The moment I opened his message, it felt like I couldn't breathe for a second. A chill slithered down my spine as soon as I saw all the messages, scrolling through every single one of them, one by one.

Why can't these people leave us alone?

I froze in my spot when I saw a screenshot of a post with a zoomed in image of my face's right-sided profile, exposed through the floral strands of my Sehra. Next to me, was a tear-eyed Naina, looking at me with a heartbroken expression while encircling the garland around my neck.
