"She's asleep." I said as soon as I walked out of Naina's room.

Mom and Di along with Sharda Aunty were standing out of the room.

"Is she okay?" Aunty asked, in a sad voice.

"Comparatively. She's still traumatized but she's trying her best." I said, looking at her.

Her exhausted face stared back at me, with a hint of respite glinting in her eyes. I sighed and walked towards her, engulfing her in a warm hug. Watching my family in a catastrophe seems like nothing but a nightmare. I can't even imagine how scared Sharda Aunty must be.

"She'll be fine, Aunty. We'll take care of her." I said, in a soft voice.

"I can't believe she did something like that." Aunty said.

"She shouldn't have done that. That was extremely reckless of her. " I said, instantly, my voice laced with a tinge of anger.

Aunty sniffled and pulled away, wiping the lone tear that escaped her eye.

"I can't even imagine what she must be going through for taking such a step. Thankyou so much for saving her life, Shub. I don't know what would have happened if you didn't act that quickly." She said, in a wavering voice.

She extended both her hands and held my right hand between them.

"I'm sorry for putting you in this situation, Beta. Anuj and I don't deserve your forgiveness. What we made you do today was extremely selfish of us and now, everything seems much scarier than it should have been. Our decision has caused a lot of agony to both of you. I don't even know how to apologize for it." She said, guilt shadowing her expression.

A part of me is extremely angry, but the other half understands her. I will never forgive Anuj Uncle for what he did, but I don't have any rancour against Aunty. What Uncle did was out of selfishness but Aunty's actions were purely out of concern for Naina. All of us were scared for her and Uncle's manipulative words added to our dilemma.

"I hope things don't complicate any further." She added, looking tear-eyed.

I hope that too.

"You don't have to apologize, Aunty. This isn't your fault and I'm not angry with you. It's definitely a difficult situation but it's not your fault. If things worsen, let them, we'll deal with it together as well. Don't think about it, right now. You've had a very traumatic day as well and you should take some rest. We'll figure things out later." I said.

She looked at me for a second then sighed.

"I don't know what we have done to deserve you, Shubhi. Even in a situation like this, where you must be scared yourself, you're still thinking about everyone else." She said.
