Infinite watched with a soft but also worried smile how Silver was sleeping. It was getting lighter in their cells as the sun was rising. Infinite hadn't slept at all as he couldn't believe Silver really was this close to him again, after all that time. He was afraid that if he closed his eyes and had to wake up again, it would turn out to be just a dream. He had mixed feelings about this, as for Silver he hoped it was just a dream, that he wasn't in trouble. But for himself it was a relief to finally see him again, to see he was.... not thinking about those circumstances.... at least healthy, happy and alive. To know that everything at least turned out okay for him and he wasn't alone.

Infinite softly stroked their hand with his thumb. He couldn't believe that the last time he'd held Silver's hand, all those years ago, that his hand was so tiny Silver could wrap his hand around his finger. It surprised Infinite how much Silver had grown into an amazing teenager. He looked at their hands to see the difference, how his own hand looked older and how the scars were shown through his fur. Silver's hand looked young and completely unscathed.

"Wake up, Silver," He whispered, "It's morning already."

He watched as Silver slowly woke up and rubbed their eyes tiredly, while letting out a yawn. Infinite chuckled at seeing them wake up, still in that cute way.

"How did you sleep?" Infinite asked.

"So nicely," They said and blinked their eyes to get used to the bright light. They looked towards Infinite with a sweet smile. Their eyes moved as they looked at the details of Infinite's face, as now they could see him better in the light. They gulped as he looked even worse compared to what they'd been able to see the evening before.

"You always had those beautiful, big golden eyes," Infinite said with an endearing smile, which made the corners of his eyes wrinkle.

Silver smiled back at him, not wanting to show him they felt worried by his crumpled appearance. "I'm happy to see you again this morning, it feels nice you're still here," Silver said and held Infinite's hand, "I hope we can catch up on all the times we've missed these past few years."

"That would be nice," Infinite said with an endearing smile, "I want to be there for you as much as I can. But I'm afraid I won't be here much longer. I think after my interrogations I will probably go to prison."

Silver nodded, looking upset, "I will come and visit you," Silver promised, "But maybe I could help you. I could tell them what you did for me, how you helped me and how all of this wasn't your fault. You were a victim, you're not to blame. You did everything you-"

Infinite stroked Silver's cheek. "Please don't," He said calmly, which made Silver look at him in confusion. "I want you to stay out of this. It's still not safe and these people aren't far away. I want you to live your life, look for closure, leave it all behind you, move forward and be happy. I don't want to get you into more trouble. It's really great to see you again it feels like a dream come true. But when I'm locked away, I don't want you to come and look for me. You need to leave all of this behind you. You need to leave me behind you, to stay safe."

Silver's eyes twitched when they looked into Infinite's eyes. "B-but I don't want to miss you again, I-I can't do that," Tears formed in their eyes, "I-I don't want to be alone."

"You're not alone," Infinite said with a sweet smile, "You have all your friends now. You have a new life. You need to live your life and move on. Promise me to not get stuck in the past. Be happy with your boyfriend Espio. Have an amazing life and future with him and be the sweet and kindhearted boy you always were. Promise me that."

Silver gulped uncertainly.

Shortly after, their breakfasts were brought to them. It wasn't anything fancy, of course. Black tea, a slice of bread with cheese and some grapes. Silver took both their trays from the police officer so Infinite didn't need to use his bad leg and passed his breakfast through the bars.
