"I hate this so much," Espio said as he paced nervously on the pavement and took a drag from his cigarette. "I hate feeling this powerless and dependent," He said frustratedly as sitting still and waiting for others to get any information wasn't for him.
"Yeah, me too," Shadow sighed, letting the smoke escape his lungs. "But at least we are one step further now that you have a lawyer again. It's at least something."
Espio rubbed his temples, "It's something indeed, but we need to figure this out faster."
"Maybe you should just sit down and try to meditate?" Lanolin suggested. She was sitting on one of the benches outside with her laptop on her lap to find out if the media had any important information. "It always gave you a better perspective on things. Maybe it will help."
Shadow rolled his eyes at Lanolin's suggestion.
"I don't think I can do that now. I'm too restless."
"Or maybe just try and get some sleep," Shadow suggested. "When did you even sleep last?" He asked and looked curious up at Espio, who seemed very tired.
Espio took a sip from his coffee and another drag from his cigarette, "I can't just sleep, not now."
The front door of the police station opened and Mr. Jefferson came out, looking curiously around to see where Espio had gone.
The three of them perked up in surprise and quickly came his way.
"Did you talk to Silver?"
"How are they doing?"
"Is everything okay with them?"
"What did they tell you?"
The lawyer smiled at them and came their direction. "Don't you worry," He said to try and calm them. "I did talk to Silver, they are doing okay, they are still quite shocked and confused by everything." He said down on the bench and looked at Espio, "Silver indeed was rather untrusting at the beginning, but your letter helped."
Shadow frowned in confusion, "What letter?"
"I gave John a letter to hand to Silver. I thought that Silver might think he was a trick from my father. So I wrote a letter to share some information to convince them John is on our side and is here to help us."
Shadow raised his eyebrows in surprise, "That was a good idea."
"It indeed was," Jefferson confirmed, "After reading, Silver shared their side of the story, which sadly isn't much," He added.
They all frowned in concern. "What did they share?"
"Silver told me that they could remember feeling very nervous when entering the gemstone hall. They were just looking around, but when they turned their back to the showcases they were suddenly alone with Tails who seemed rather scared and worried. He quickly took Silver away from the gemstone collection to hide them in a different hall."
They frowned in confusion upon hearing this information.
"So Silver really doesn't remember anything of what happened?" Lanolin asked.
John shook his head, "I'm afraid not. Silver apparently thought it was rather strange all their classmates had suddenly disappeared and to see Tails in distress."
"Didn't it maybe feel like a gap in their mind or something? Like they had blacked out or anything?" Espio asked curiously.
"No it didn't," John said as he had already asked Silver in multiple ways to describe the transition from being there with their classmates to suddenly being alone with Tails.
