Two weeks went by, the threat of OWL's tormented Lilianne's older friends, which led them to stop hanging around so much. Focused on approving the examinations.
She had tests and homework of her own to think of as well, so instead of sitting around in the common room chatting, the newfound group saw fit to sit around in the library. Occupying a whole aisle to not be disturbed of course.
In front of her sat Goyle, with a book in front of him and a box of sweets hidden under the table. Madam Pince didn't check on them very often, yet one had to be discreet in the library. Next to him was Malfoy, after Pansy's comment on her birthday she resolved on calling him that. He'd been generous to her, the least she could do was call him as he felt comfortable with.
The blond also had a book with him, besides that a pile of notes he kept checking ever so often. Part of the generosity he'd shown her was helping her in Astronomy, it was admittedly not her best subject, yet those last few days he had taken the time to help her through three or four constellations.
Corine was doing her half of the Potions quiz Snape had given them class, the pair resolved to do ten questions each and in so ease their workload. Herself on the sixth question, Lilianne turned to look for the guide she'd been using.
In the meantime a very confident Tracey Davis walked to their table. She went silently behind Malfoy and slowly placed her hands on his shoulders, moving them slightly lower as he looked up with his brows furrowed. "Hello there" She said.
"Shouldn't you be studying Davis?" He asked lowly. "I was, this whole exams thing is really stressing me out" She whined flirtatiously. "And your voice stresses out us, leave Davis" Pansy exclaimed, she hated that girl.
"Relax Parkinson, I didn't come to look for you" The brunette mocked. This whole interaction caught the attention of the whole group. Some were disinterested, used to the whole theatre. Some didn't really care and some loved the drama and were authentically curious about the unfolding. For very different reasons altogether.
Blaise had been the first promoter of matching Draco and Lilianne, or for that matter, making him realise there was more to life than hookups. He'd known his friend for years and that persona he put up, he knew it wasn't him. From his first reaction, their first reactions to each other, Zabini found it curious how someone so unlike him brought Draco's other side out for once.
Convinced himself even more so on Lily's birthday, his responses and determination to get her a 'decent' gift. It had always been him the most closed off, that was just Draco, and Blaise knew how hard it would be for him to put down his walls, it would take time and the Malfoy heir would most likely be reluctant when he finally realised it was happening, Tracey being there didn't help, the girl was a bright reminder of how Draco enjoyed being his cold, unbothered, distant, I-don't-give-a-fuck self.
Warren felt threatened, true he was not involved with Lilianne whatsoever, but he felt entitled to her. He'd been in love with her for years, since they were practically children, and it made his blood boil when she was approached by all these people. Older, outgoing, sometimes touchy. Worst was, she seemed to enjoy their company, he distrusted all these boys, especially Nott and Malfoy.
The past weeks Malfoy had shown no sign of being in a relationship, that had Warren worried. But Davis had lightened his day, if the blond was involved with someone else, Lilianne would steer clear of him. He knew the girl and he was expectant to see Malfoy display some sort of affection to the freshly arrived girl, even just the smallest bit.
Lilianne felt conflicted, of course Draco Malfoy is seeing someone else. It's only natural, so why on earth is she uncomfortable? Tracey Davis was actually pretty, and his age and... of course this was happening. But he seemed interested in her, right? Maybe I got it wrong. For all she knew he could have just been friendly, she had met the boy for not two months now, but a girl knows this stuff. And I knew this stuff. She was not saddened yet not neutral. She resolved on mentally kicking herself for her naiveness and kept watching how the conversation turned out.
