The Jeon household smelled like fresh vanilla and honey. A soft playlist hummed from the kitchen as Mrs. Jeon stirred a pot of tea while humming quietly. Jungkook was at the dining table with his sketchbook, tongue poking out the side of his mouth in focus. He was designing cookie decorations—bunny-shaped, of course.

“Jungkook-ah, could you make some of those pretty cookies you did last time?” his mother asked as she peeked into the kitchen.

Jungkook nodded brightly. “Sure! Are we having someone over?”

His mother hesitated. “An old friend. Very elegant lady. Be nice.”

Jungkook grinned. “I’m always nice.”

Within minutes, he was in full motion—flour on his nose, cheeks dusted pink from the oven heat, sleeves rolled up as he carefully piped pink icing on bunny faces. The kitchen looked like a pastel wonderland by the time the doorbell rang.

“I’ll get it!” Mrs. Jeon said, adjusting her shawl.

Jungkook peeked from behind the fridge door as his mother opened the door with a warm, surprised laugh.

“Mrs. Kim! You look as graceful as ever!”

In stepped Mrs. Kim, a vision of timeless elegance in a beige coat with pearl earrings and a soft smile. Her heels tapped gently on the floor as she entered with a nod of gratitude.

“It’s been too long,” she said.

“Oh, please, you haven’t aged a day,” Mrs. Jeon said, embracing her. “Come in, the house smells like Jungkook’s baking again.”

At that, Mrs. Kim’s eyes sparkled. “Ah, the famous cookies. I’ve heard so much about them.”

From the kitchen, Jungkook emerged, wiping his hands on a bunny apron. “Hi,” he said sheepishly, bowing. “I didn’t know we had someone important coming.”

Mrs. Kim’s eyes softened the moment they landed on him.

“So this is Jungkook,” she said, stepping closer. “My, my… you’re even lovelier than I imagined.”

Jungkook blushed, instantly lowering his gaze. “T-thank you, ma’am. I made cookies. They’re… bunny-shaped.”

Her smile widened. “How fitting.”

The three sat down in the living room, cookies and tea between them. Mrs. Kim bit into a soft lemon cookie and hummed. “These are divine.”

“Jungkook’s always had a creative hand,” Mrs. Jeon said proudly.

As Jungkook went to fetch more tea, Mrs. Kim leaned closer to Mrs. Jeon, her tone softening.

“I’ll be honest, I didn’t just come for the cookies.”

Mrs. Jeon raised a brow. “I figured.”

Mrs. Kim glanced toward the kitchen, her gaze fond. “I like your son, Seona. He has a warmth this world is starving for. I see it in his smile… the way he treats even tea like it’s sacred.”

Mrs. Jeon smiled gently. “He’s a soft heart, yes. Sensitive. Fierce, too, when needed.”

“That’s exactly why I’m here.” Mrs. Kim took a breath. “Taehyung… my son, he’s shutting down. He pushes everyone away. He’s not cruel, but he’s cold. And I worry one day he won’t find his way back.”
