The car ride to the airport was quiet.

Not awkward—just quiet in the way early mornings often were. The city rolled past in a slow blur of grey buildings and sleepy traffic, the hum of tires on asphalt grounding the silence between them.

Jungkook sat by the window, arms tucked into the sleeves of his cream-colored hoodie. His suitcase was small, black, rolling smoothly beside his leg.

Taehyung sat beside him, hands clasped over one knee, black coat falling neatly around him. He hadn't spoken much since they left Jungkook’s apartment—just short replies, nods, a few glances that lingered too long before returning to the city view.

Jungkook broke the silence first.

“You’re always this quiet before flights?”

Taehyung didn’t look at him, but his voice was soft. “No.”

Jungkook glanced sideways. “Then?”

“I just like the quiet before something changes.”

Jungkook didn’t know what to say to that.

So he nodded.

And looked back out the window.

---

Incheon Airport buzzed with its usual organized chaos. Announcements played overhead. Lines shuffled forward. Tired travelers wheeled suitcases like soldiers in formation.

Taehyung moved through it all with effortless ease.

Black passport. Black carry-on. Expression calm, unreadable.

Jungkook jogged half a step behind him, not wanting to lose him in the crowd.

“You’ve done this a lot, haven’t you?” Jungkook said as they reached security.

“Yes.”

“Well, I haven’t.”

“I noticed.”

Jungkook squinted. “Was that shade?”

Taehyung finally glanced at him, the barest curve of his mouth showing. “Maybe.”

---

After security and a brief walk through duty-free, they reached Gate A12.

It wasn’t crowded. A few other business travelers sat nearby, eyes on tablets and phones. Their flight wasn’t for another twenty minutes.

Jungkook sank into one of the padded chairs and pulled his hoodie sleeves over his hands. He could feel Taehyung standing just behind him still, probably checking emails or scanning the news like the world hadn’t nearly set fire to their names two days ago.

“…Your tie’s crooked.”

Taehyung looked down.

Then raised a brow. “You just wanted an excuse to look.”

“I did not.”

A pause.

Jungkook blinked. “Wait—is it actually crooked?”

“No.”

He turned slightly. Jungkook was flushed, but composed.

“I’ll stop talking now,” he muttered.
