The heavy mansion doors closed behind him with a final click, but the bitterness stayed.

Kim Taehyung walked toward his car like a man being chased by shadows—silent, stiff, his jaw set in a firm line. His long coat flowed behind him as the early morning wind tugged at his collar, but nothing about him bent. Not even the cold.

He slid into the back seat of his black Mercedes without a word. His driver bowed slightly but said nothing, already used to the CEO’s preference for silence in the mornings.

But today, it was a different kind of silence.
A tense one.
A sharp one.

The kind that built behind the eyes and didn’t leave until something—or someone—cut through it.

When Taehyung entered the building, the usual hush fell like a wave. Suits stiffened. Conversations died. Interns ducked behind partitions.

He walked through the marble lobby and into the private elevator, his expression unreadable.

Cold. Elegant. Untouchable.

Exactly how he wanted to be.

But when the elevator doors opened on the 59th floor, his control was tested in the most ridiculous way possible.

Because right there, standing in front of his office in a pale blue oversized sweater vest and a half-tied black ribbon around his collar, was Jeon Jungkook.

Holding two coffees.

And… humming.

To himself.

While trying to balance a tablet and a folder between his arms.

“Morning, boss tiger,” Jungkook said brightly, not even looking up yet. “I got your coffee just how you like it—soul-draining and judgmental. I even made notes for your morning calls and fixed your calendar. Also, please don’t yell at me if I put a bunny sticker next to your 2 p.m. slot, it was for morale.”

Taehyung just blinked at him.

Jungkook finally looked up. “Oh. You’re here early.”

“You’re talking too much again.”

“I call it efficient verbal multitasking.”

Taehyung sighed, brushing past him toward his office. “Don’t trip.”

“I never—”

Thunk.

The tablet slipped. Jungkook caught it mid-air but bumped his elbow against the doorframe.

“—trip. Totally under control.”

Taehyung didn’t stop walking, but the corner of his mouth twitched.

Just a little.

Taehyung sat at his desk, reviewing a high-stakes acquisition report.

Jungkook, meanwhile, organized the files like a trained machine—except when he softly sang under his breath or spoke random thoughts out loud.

“So like, if coffee was a person, do you think it would hate us or love us?”
