The morning came grey and still.

No sunrise, no birdsong. Just pale light pouring through the tall windows of the Kim Mansion, slipping past the velvet curtains like a quiet intruder.

Inside his room, Taehyung sat on the edge of the bed, already fully awake.

He hadn’t really slept.

He never did before travel.

But today, it wasn’t the client or the meeting keeping him awake.

It was the thought of him.

Jungkook.

Too soft for this world.
Too strong to stay quiet in it.

And now they were leaving—together.

Not to escape.

But to step outside the noise, just for a moment.

Taehyung rose from the bed and moved toward the bathroom. His routine was swift, mechanical:

Face. Teeth. Cologne.
Tailored black trousers. Button-down. Thin dark turtleneck beneath a slate-gray overcoat.
No tie. No vest.
Just clean lines and quiet confidence.

He adjusted his sleeves at the mirror, then paused.

And added one thing.

A single silver pin.

It wasn’t for fashion.
Jungkook had gifted it during his first week.

Said it made him look “less murder-y.”

Taehyung allowed himself the smallest smile.

Then straightened his shoulders.

And left.

---

The house was silent.

Even the staff moved slower today, sensing the air around him.

He didn’t say goodbye to Eunchae or his grandmother.

He didn’t need to.

His mother stood at the door, arms crossed loosely, sipping coffee in her robe.

“You’re packed?” she asked, knowing the answer.

He nodded once.

“Be safe,” she said softly.

He stepped closer and gently kissed her forehead.

“I’ll bring you something from Paris.”

“Not wine. Your father still hasn’t finished the last bottle.”

“Then maybe something soft,” Taehyung murmured. “Something warm.”

His mother smiled knowingly.

“Like a scarf?”

“Maybe.”

He walked out before she could say more.

---

The drive was quiet.

No music. No radio.

Just the sound of tires cutting through the early fog.
