The beginning is in my first book "What's Wrong with Diet? The Physiological Part", continued in the second book "What's Wrong with Diet? What is the Role of the Psyche?", in the third - "What's Wrong with diet? What is the Role of Aesthetics?" and in the fourth - "What's Wrong with Diet? What is the Role of Dietetics?".

1. Individual self-awareness, the return of the individual to the foundations of human nature, to his deep being with his individual destiny is the beginning of healing from the blindness that rules today. Interest in the problem of the human psyche is a sure sign of an instinctive return to oneself (Jung K.G. 2013) [1].

2. Individual self-awareness. It helped me to understand that until the age of 51, I had been trying to develop personalities (masks) rather than my human nature, including character (I fr. 18. 2, 3; II fr. 8. 1, 2, 8) *. My 15 years of education from the age of seven were aimed at making me good for society, i.e. becoming a personality (10 years of school and 5 years of higher education). Society tried hard to prevent me from becoming an egoist, i.e. becoming good for myself. With the help of this education and training, I made efforts for 29 years to achieve success in my life. Despite my efforts to achieve perfection in everything, I suffered a crushing defeat, both in family relationships and in private life. It manifested itself in the destruction of a 27-year marriage, depression, and loss of the meaning of life. At the age of 51, I again needed education and learning, but now in a different sense – to be good for myself based on the development of myself as an individual, including my character. However, for this it was necessary, as I later realized, to have another education and learning, aimed at developing individuality (I fr. 20. 7) *. This is how the famous psychoanalyst Carl Jung describes the mental process of returning to oneself **:

• "Individual self-awareness, the return of the individual to the foundations of human nature, to his deep being with his individual destiny, is the beginning of healing from the blindness that rules the present day" (italics author) (Jung K.G. 2013) [1].

* Individuality is a person characterized by his socially significant differences from other people; the uniqueness of the psyche and personality [character, ed., author] of an individual, uniqueness. It manifests itself in the traits of temperament, character, the specifics of interests, qualities of perceptual processes (perception) and intelligence [ability to think, ed., author], needs and abilities [possibilities, ed., author] of the individual [2]. P.S. My wording of some words, taken in square brackets, is scientifically substantiated (I fr. 20. 7; 22. 5; 23. 3, 8; 24. 7).

** Carl Jung (1875 – 1961) — Swiss psychologist and psychiatrist, founder of analytical psychology. Jung proposed and developed the concepts of extroverted (looking outward) and introverted (looking inward) personalities, archetypes, and the collective unconscious. His work influenced psychiatry and the study of religion, literature, and related fields. His historical research helped him become a pioneer in the psychotherapy of middle-aged and elderly people, especially those who felt their lives had lost their meaning. He helped them to appreciate their place in the sequence of history (Encyclopaedia Britannia) [3].

3. "The return of the individual to the basics of human nature." Before developing my individuality, radical changes occurred in my psyche. Treatment for depression in the clinic of the Institute of Psychiatry prompted me to reconsider my past education. When I saw outwardly healthy people there who suffered from various mental disorders, I began to think about the cause of these disorders. To do this, I became interested in their stories and was surprised to find that some of them had been treated there several times and without result. I wanted to understand the reason for this because I did not want to relive all the mental pain that almost drove me to suicide. However, it took a long time after being discharged from the clinic to understand the causes of the mental disorder.

"Interest in the problem of the human psyche is a sure sign of an instinctive return to oneself" (ibid., author's italics).

4. "Interest in the problem of the human psyche." Carefully examining the sources of psychology accessible to my non-professional perception, I realized the importance of developing my individuality. From then on I set out on this path. I was not alone. I had another guide (censor) with me, helping me move towards the intended education and learning. It was a new feeling of the outer and inner world. At first, the sensations of the inner world conflicted with the outer world until they united with the help of the censor, but how this happened we will learn in the following chapters of this book. Awareness and directed movement "towards the foundations of human nature, to one's deep being with one's own individual destiny" began to bear fruit.

5. "The Beginning of Healing from Blindness". One day my inner world turned upside down and stood on its feet. The scales fell from my eyes, and I began to see the outer and inner world as I had never seen them before. Finally, an epiphany (insight) came. There was a strong desire to write a book about diet as a way of life (Dietetics) and the bitter experience of a past life. I don't want anyone to experience all the bad things that could have been avoided. Now I am sure that I am driven by love for people. In my opinion, this was reflected in my previous 4 books and, I hope, will be reflected in this book as well.

6. Summary. I have synthesized (put together) my puzzle. I am sure that you will succeed too.

7. Post scriptum. Before continuing to read this book, I see the need to recommend my dear reader to read Chapter 2 "The Bestselling Nutrition Market" and Chapter 3 "Uniqueness and Features of the Book" in my first book "What's Wrong with Diet? The Physiological Part". It briefly shows the current situation in the self-help book market and the difference between my books and many others. In the course of reading this and my next three books "III. What's Wrong with Diet? What is the Role of Esthetics?", "IV. What's Wrong with Diet? What is the Role of the Dietetics Program?" and "V. What's Wrong with Diet? What is the Role of Self-Love?" you will come across frequent references to my other books using conventional designations. Example of notation: (I fr. 20. 7; 23. 3, 8) - this means that this link points to a fragment of the first book - I. chapter 20, paragraph 7, and fragments of chapter 23, paragraphs 3 and 8. Viewing links will help you see the whole picture, putting together fragments after fragments into a single puzzle. Enjoy your reading. Author George Wall.

Next Chapter: The Other Side of the Approval Craving

What we will explore: What is the reason for the craving for approval from others?

What's new: What is the feeling behind the craving for approval and why is it difficult to identify?

What we will learn: What does the "monster" feeling mean and how to identify it?
