What we study: What does it mean to have a humanistic attitude and how does it develop?

What's new: What forms the basis for a person to adopt a humanistic attitude towards themselves?

What we will learn: How does a humanistic attitude towards oneself manifest itself and what are its causes?

1. Humanistic, inherent in humanism - (Latin humanus humane). It is manifested in a deep respect for a human and his dignity, in an active fight against all forms of man-hating. A personality trait includes knowledge of life, a positive attitude towards people, their life and work, humanity, and warmth of the soul (Golovin S. Yu. 1998) [1].

2. "And he passed before Moses, proclaiming, 'The Lord, the Lord, a God compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, keeping love for thousands and forgiving wickedness [of those who do not value the Creator, ed., author], rebellion and sin'" (Exodus 34:6. NIV translation).

3. Humanistic attitude "I". The main participation in the formation of his attitude "I" is taken by the individual who perceived himself as a human being ("manifested in a deep respect for man and his dignity"). He does not consider himself a hominid - a highly organized anthropoid ape ("includes knowledge of life") (V fr. 5. 8). Therefore, he consciously avoids both the man-hating attitude and the self-interested one ("in an active fight against all forms of man-hating") (V fr. 5. 4, 7). The beginning of the humanistic attitude of one's "I" will be the understanding of the difference between the real "I" and the false one. From the time a human becomes aware of himself as an individual, he already has an inherited stereotypical attitude of "I". Living in a certain environment, a human unconsciously copies the attitude of this environment. What is this stereotypical attitude of "I"?

4. Stereotypical attitude of the "I" This inherited attitude of the environment is false. It is false for many reasons. The main delusion, from which all other false beliefs flow, is that someone is capable of knowing another's individuality, except the individual himself (I fr. 20. 1, 2). Such a super task is only possible for the person himself. No one else is given this. Therefore, only the person himself can determine the true value of his "I" (I fr. 19. 7; 20. 3, 4) [2]. In addition, historical experience shows that the person himself is often inclined to be mistaken about his "I", striving for some unrealizable ideal of the "I" (V fr. 3. 11) [3]. But where does the knowledge of one's "I" begin? With the basis for the formation of the authentic attitude of one's "I".

5. The basis for the authentic attitude of the "I". The foundation of the authentic humanistic attitude of his "I" is the awareness by himself that the essence of any human is unique, and that he is worthy of both respect and love. The uniqueness of man is that he alone among all living creatures has the image of God. Having created man in his image, God recognized his creation as good (II fr. 4. 4). However, the image of God embedded in man did not mean that he would automatically become like God. This had to be learned by knowing good.

• "And Jehovah Elohim made to grow out of the ground every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food, and the tree of life amid the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" (author's italics) (Genesis 2:9) *.

In the language of the Bible, this meant learning good from the tree of "the knowledge of good and evil." In a very simplified way, it can be imagined that a human has a talent for a certain type of activity, for example, singing (goodness). But if a human does not develop it through study, practice, and experience ("knowledge of goodness"), he loses it. In this sense, in the language of the Bible, a person "knew evil." Does this mean that now all people have become bad and unworthy of love? Let the Bible itself answer.
