Considering the impact of diet on physical, mental, and aesthetic well-being, the author sought to create a comprehensive picture of Dietetics - the art of living - through four books. However, as he wrote, it became clear that something important w...
What we are researching: Why do contradictions arise in the mask, and what are some examples of mask fragments that contradict themselves?
What's new: What two mistakes do psychologists make when trying to assemble a mask into a whole?
What we will learn: What is important to do about the mask, and how can this be done to love yourself?
1. "Our research has led to the creation of a mask representing modern Western culture. This mask consists of fragments that contradict each other" (Author).
2. "By analyzing the persona, we tear off the mask; what seemed individual to us turns out to be collective" (Jung K.G. 2013) [1].
3. Contradictory fragments of the mask. In the previous chapter, we found out that our mask is the external social image of a modern human. This mask is divided into many incompatible fragments. Even earlier we found out the reasons for the contradictions: in some scientific studies unproven statements of ancient philosophers are taken as hypotheses. A striking example of this is the concept of "intelligence", which refers to thinking abilities and which was personalized by the ancient Greeks into a deity. In other words, intelligence is a godlike personality. But when we put this concept to the test, its mythical origin of the "brain-mind" was revealed.
• "The brain should not present any mystery to us; the only mystery is the mystery of the tradition of Western thought, which since the time of the ancient Greeks has created a veritable myth of the brain" (italics author) (Kuo, 1967, pp. 194–195) (Smith N. 2003) [2].
Noel Smith, an expert on modern psychology theories, believes that ideas about the brain, although formed through research, are often mythical. That is, they are based not only on facts but also on cultural, philosophical, and religious beliefs.

4. Examples of other myths. Let us consider other fragments of the psyche in our mask that have the character of myths:
• Conscience and temperament, concepts whose origin can be traced back to the ancient philosopher Democritus and the physician Polybos from the school of Hippocrates.
• Beliefs, morals, and values resemble a multi-colored mosaic that includes a diverse spectrum of traditions of Greek mythology and philosophy, Catholicism, Orthodoxy, and Protestantism, as well as the influence of politics, business, and evolutionary theory.
• Gender inequality is a consequence of evolutionary theory, which created the basis for gender inequality. This inequality significantly influenced the formation of roles in male and female behavior (V fr. 18. 1, 4, 9, 10).
5. Myths shape feelings and emotions. Since feelings and emotions have reasons for their occurrence, these reasons are the psychical fragments mentioned in the previous paragraph. Examples from these fragments illustrate a mask of heterogeneous parts that are not in agreement with each other. But the most tragic thing in the drama of life in Western society is that people are not aware of these contradictions in personality, which often lead to psychological disorders.
