You don't say it out loud, but you know what you want to do, and you don't need to. "You wanna do it, right? Well, go ahead, it's a wild experience on your first try." She looks up in the direction that the sun is setting.
You get up and stretch. "I guess that means we're done training?"
"You really don't get bored of this?"
"Should I?"
Kara pats you on the lower back. "Head back to the inn you maniac. I can catch up once you're done."
"You're staying behind?" You ask curiously.
"I've just gotta reign in the mana here." She closes her eyes and stands in what you know to be a meditative position with her hands pressed together around stomach-level.
"You mentioned that my kind drains the mana from the land, but now you're doing the same?"
She responds without opening her eyes. "Too much mana is just as bad as too little. I'm just spreading it around."
"Alright. I'll go on ahead." Kara does not respond. You leave the estate and walk into the town proper. As you are making your way towards the inn you see Sam stumbling back in the direction of the estate. You do not know much about what he spends his time doing, but you have been able to gather bits and pieces from just walking back and forth between your room at the inn and the training grounds. Sammead seems to spend a few hours drinking every odd day. You are aware from what Galia tells you that he is very handsy with her girls, but that for the most part it is by design. Other than that, you are not sure what he does. As you pass him quietly you mutter to yourself.
"A day in the life of sam..." If you hadn't already made your decision, it was decided then what you wanted to do.With proper motivation it only took you another week to be able to spread out your consciousness along the lines of mana into the area. You can will yourself to see things in the surrounding lands. You are able to catch the outlines of people through their walls. You can make out animals running through the woods a mile away. It all feels like second nature to you. Looking at your status screen you can see the ability listed; Mana Sense. It is the first time you have seen something under the ability section. Asking Kara about it, she shows you hers and it is absolutely filled with various obscure abilities. You spy her stats as well and subtly take note of the fact that she is quite strong. Stronger than anything you could imagine. When she talked about killing Sam and disposing of the body, you thought it was a tall task, but you truly believe she might be able to disappear whole towns if she were inclined.
"Are you a national treasure where you're from?"
She shrugs casually. "I told you, I'm an Elder of my tribe."
"When humans refer to elders, we usually mean someone we respect. That doesn't mean they are literal weapons of mass destruction... Did I accidentally make the best choice by picking you?"
"There aren't any accidents, it was fate. Besides, you think I'm special, but I'm pretty sure the other three were all quite a bit stronger than me when it comes to fighting. Especially the silver-haired one and the mage." She states frankly.
"What about the knight?"
"We're about the same. In theory." You nod slowly. She continues.
"Then you take into account that she's a holy knight and her blessings probably mean she is an actual national treasure."Your jaw drops. "I turned all those people down?" After taking a few seconds to collect yourself you state confidently.
"I don't regret it."Kara smiles subtly. You think that maybe she looks quite flattered. "Well that's a relief. Get back to work."
