It does not feel like you have time to consider your options carefully. It is fight or flight and flight would not help Kara immediately, by your perception. Reading the woman, it is hard to pick up on any specific intent. The most that you can get is that she does in fact want you to come with her. You pick up mild distaste, as well, but that could be anything.
"Alright." You decide.
"Unless anyone has reservations I think we should go." The woman's face lights up, then sours faintly as the others speak."Agreed. She seems trustworthy." Heilan says under her breath to you and the rest of the party.
"Kara looks really sick." She adds with concern. Looking down, Kara is sweating and stirring uncomfortably but shows no sign of waking.Vura exhales. "I dunno. We're a bit deep and stuck in at the moment. Not much choice."
Luire has the most reservations, though he does not voice them directly. The elf offers you a careful look, then nods.
"Vura's right, but we should remain cautious."After taking everyone's opinion into account you approach the Fox, her bushy tail swaying back and forth gently behind her.
"Where to?"She smiles. "My den is a ways ahead. Less than an hour by foot. You will all find comfort there, and we will be able to help your friend."
You all begin walking, trailing behind the enigmatic figure. You hang back at first to check on the party. Vura is still leading the way. She has Kara in a princess carry and does not seem to mind in the least. Kara remains unconscious and appears to be with some form of fever.
"What do you think?" You ask. Looking ahead idly you see the foxes ears turned back subtly. You lower your tone.
"Was it the right choice?""I don't like it. I've heard of witches coming out of the forest under the guise of friendship to lead adventurers to their doom. It's a bit too convenient that she's here right when our charge gets sick, and right after an attack. But we're a bit stuck. What are we gonna do with Kara all the way out here? How can we navigate our way back or ahead without her?" Vura looks at you.
"But hey, you seem to have good senses. For the record, after that show in the clearing, I feel pretty comfortable trusting your judgment." She has no arms to slap your back so she instead nudges your shoulder with hers. You step back to check on Heilan. "How are you doing? Was that your first fight?" She is shaking slightly, and not from the cold. You've heard of first-time jitters. The first time an adventurer has to fight for their life or kill can be the last for some. Many quit after their first job due to the stress.
"Yeah, it was intense, but everything worked out. Definitely..." She trails off, shuddering lightly.
"Definitely?"
"Definitely way more than I thought it would be. We could've died so easily there with how many there were and how aggressive they were." She smiles at you.
"But you knew what you were doing and everyone kinda just did what they were supposed to. It was like a machine.""Don't dwell on what could've been. We're here." You rub her shoulder, then slide to the back with Luire. He acknowledges you with a nod, but is staring straight through the party at the back of the woman you are following.
"What's up?"
"I do not trust her." Luire states frankly.
"Why?"
"It's too perfect and just because beastfolk have integrated with the empire doesn't mean all are friendly. I'm old enough to remember some of the ones who weren't. Really, really bad folks that you wouldn't want to fight."
"You think she's leading us astray?"
Luire looks at you curiously. "What do you think?" It is not a rhetorical question. He is genuinely inquiring your position.
