"I haven't learned anything new since we started moving." You state. It is not a complaint, simply an observation. You and Kara sit alone amidst trees. It is a slight throwback to how it was when you both just met, except now everything is just a bit colder and darker. The forests of the north are inhospitable. Where life could be found easily if you walked in any direction in the forests outside of Chesharidge and the city, the forest of the north is not host to anything that has not fought for it's right to life. The animals are all unfamiliar with humans, but cautious of everything, as every creature is always seeking its next meal. The growth on the forest floor is sparse and if it were not for the dense fog that rolls in at various times during the day you could likely see through the trees for a mile.
"That's on you, Hero."
"Why do you keep calling me that? You know that it's going to get me into trouble if you say it around others."
"Only because you think any attention is trouble. You could have it pretty easy if you just embraced it."
"I don't necessarily want it to be easy." You both sit across from each other, cross-legged. You had just finished practicing your technique to reach out and scout around you. There is very little in the way of life nearby. An armored stag, a den of hibernating creatures several feet below the earth. Other than those it is just weeds and trees.
"Can you actually see the future?""I told you this before. I've seen different outcomes. I don't know what's gonna happen, exactly." Kara rolls her shoulder casually.
"Believe me, if all outcomes pointed to death I'd tell you. I'm not interested in either of us dying.""And our companions?" You are hesitant to ask, since not mentioning them at all is something of an answer already. Kara looks at you.
"I'm not too concerned."
"Well I am. I feel responsible for these people."
Kara smiles. "That's good, because you're in a better position to keep them safe than I am with my far sight. All I can really give you is that there are some nasty ends waiting for them if you fail them."
That answer unsettles you. "But I can make sure that they get out of this alright?"
"I think so." Kara says unconvincingly.
"Alright." You sigh.
"Just don't make mistakes. Speaking of, which direction do we need to go?""Through the mountains."
"Right ri-" You stop.
"Wait...""It's the most direct way to get there, as far as I can tell. But I guess you wanted to go through the forest for some reason."
"I thought the pass would be a bad idea, considering reports of incursions. I took the forest route because I assumed you would be able to navigate us around to where we need to go." You look at her sharply.
"Is that still true?""It was never true." Kara says frankly.
"I dunno this area very well. I think we might be lost." She looks around cautiously as she says that."W-what? Why didn't you say ANY of that before we started traveling into the woods!?"
"I assumed someone knew where they were going."
"We were following you!"
"I was just walking. Since no one stopped me, I thought we were going in the right direction."
"How are we supposed to know how to reach this cabin if you don't know the area!" You exclaim down at her as you stand.
Kara stares back up at you and offers an unimpressed look. "I don't even know if there is a cabin. Why were YOU getting sucked into the lie that I told THEM to lure them here?" She shakes her head subtly.
"I know what Calpin's Bite looks like. If we get there I can navigate us, probably."
