"Jeane." You answer. The offer from the two was surprising but the calculation is fairly simple. You have had a focus on magic and as much as it has caused you trouble it has also saved you more than once. The encounter in the woods. The fact that you know at all about Heilan being influenced. All of that is because of what Kara taught you. If that can be improved somehow you are definitely going to take the Mage up on her offer.

Teuta nods respectfully. "I think it is a good choice."

"I think so, too. Finally." Jeane puffs her modest chest out triumphantly. As much as her skill-set is potentially useful to you, her attitude leaves a lot to be desired. Thinking back to what you saw last night, there is a 'button' you could press that would probably make her a bit more agreeable, but you are not sure if you want to take advantage of that. Not yet, anyway.

"I will leave you two, then. I need to continue preparations." The Knight explains.

"About that, what are we doing?"

She stares at you hesitantly. "Planning and preparations. We know what we want to do, all that's left is how you tie you all in... I personally want to help you and your friend; the beastwoman you mentioned. The others who are in charge of this operation are solely focused on the beastfolk incursion, however. Asking them to care about one person, a beastfolk no less... I am doing my best."

"The Crown Prince?" You mention offhandedly.

Teuta blushes. "How did you-" She stops, puts reigns on her emotions nods. For a brief moment you saw her nerves taking over. She really is fearful to even here him mentioned.
"Yes. I am trying to lobby him to be in favor of helping your friend." She explained in conservative terms. You know that the reality is that she is probably going to have very little sway and it will have more to do with what she is willing to tantalize the prince with.

"Thank you." You decide not to prod too much. Even if she seems cowed by the prince, she is at least trying to help.

"Are we going to do this? I do not have all day, lad." Jeane says impatiently. With the contrasting childishness of her attitude and elegance of her tone, you wonder how you are going to tolerate her long enough to learn from her. A part of you wishes you could put her in her place, similarly to how you saw her before.

"Let's start. You're right." You relent, pushing that inclination to the back of your mind. Teuta smiles and backs off, leaving you two alone.

"Thank you." Jeane begins walking towards the training ground and motions for you to follow her. She turns her head to speak to you over her shoulder.
"Can you utilize your magic here in the camp?"

"We're still in the woods. I can feel it, but it's a bit weaker due to all the trees you cut to make this camp." It is somewhat annoying to you due to Kara's mild indoctrination. She really has had an influence over you since you met. The army did not bother with subtlety or care. They simply clear-cut an area as quickly as possible, trampled all the plants on the way in and had even been damaging the rivers mana flow with waste. All that being considered, there is enough nearby.

"This is the issue. I have no clue why anyone would utilize such fragile magic. In a normal duel between Mages, you would need to target your opponent. However!"She turns on her heels and holds up one finger.
"Even if you knew what you were doing, I could neutralize you by leveling the forest around you."

You cringe at the thought. "That is a bit much. But I suppose it's true."

"Whatever this beastfolk magic is, it is self-defeating. Progress is inevitable. Having to rely on nature for magic can only serve to keep your master's people in the stone age, which ironically makes them more susceptible to progress." Jeane muses as she turns back around and continues walking.
