Heading towards the Johto League, our heroes' journey has finally taken them to the end of the desert.
Riley: Alright! Everyone rushes to the cliff that overlooks the city.
Marina: We're here!
At last! Olivine City and Riley's chance for his fifth badge is just within his reach! However...
"Due to an emergency, the Olivine City Gym is temporarily closed. Sorry for the inconvenience." Said a sign on the gyms front door.
Riley: NOOO!!! Riley shouted on his knees.
Marina: Guess that puts a wrench in things.
Jimmy: Yeah. Not much we can do now.
Karen: What should we do?
Marina: Let's look around. I'm sure there are all kinds of things we can do until the Gym opens up again.
Riley: I guess so. Hm? Riley looks to see a small girl scrubbing an Onix.

Riley: Hey, little girl!
Janine: Huh?
Riley: Mind telling me why you're scrubbing your Onix?
Janina: Well, you see, I rubbed water-repellant wax all over my Onix, and now I'm trying to clean it off by scrubbing it with sand.
Jimmy: Water-repellant wax?
Karen: Why'd you cover it with that?
Janina: Well, I kinda pretended to be the Olivine Gym Leader and battled a trainer. But Jasmine found out and got mad at me.
Marina: So that's it.
Karen: That's not a very nice way to treat your Onix, you know.
Janina: I know that, now. But all I ever wanted was to be an apprentice at Jasmine's gym, and I was just hoping to make her proud of me, that's all. So I decided to do whatever I could to overcome Onix's weakness.
Riley: I think I get it.
Quilava: Quil.
Janina: And no one ever told me it was against the rules.
Karen: Instead of trying to erase a Pokémon's weaknesses, you have to encourage its natural strengths.
Janina: But how am I supposed to do that?
Karen: If you listen to your Onix with both your heart and your ears, you'll learn everything you need to.
Janina: Hey! That's exactly what Jasmine used to tell me to do!
Riley: Oh! Do you know when the Olivine Gym will be open?
Janina: Unfortunately, it looks like it'll be closed for a while.
Riley: I see. Riley said feeling dejected.
Janina: I'm sorry. So, I guess I'll have to try listening to you a little bit better. She said to her Onix.
