"Oh my God!" A shout broke through the loud sounds. I jumped a bit from the surprise, what the hell?!

"STOP! Ah! Help!" Screams after screams.

I frowned, putting down the hand towel from my hands and walked to see a crowed.

"Excuse me! Coming through!" I pushed people to get through the gathering.

I reached the front to see two guys, both their faces full of blood, and rolling on top of each other, punching and swearing over the loud music. A frightened girl was trying to interfere, but getting pushed away so that she doesn't get harmed.

I sighed, annoyed, and turned to meet the manager looking at the fight from a glassed room on the second floor.

He nodded and I knew what I had to do.

"Cut the music!" I yelled to the DJ, and walked to behind the bar where I serve. I leaned and caught the shot gun.

The music was off, and I heard gun shot, and I fired along towards the ceiling. I walked towards the crowed and fired again, they weren't real bullets! Just sound rubber bullets to calm any chaos in the club.

Everything fell silent and the people stopped cheering and yelling. Two huge security men came and separated the two guys, the girl had tears wetting her cheeks.

"We do not accept any kind of violence or any such behavior in this club! Do you hear me all?!" I yelled, furious. These fights happen all the time, and I'm starting to get bored of them. Can't people just stop fighting?! Especially guys fighting over a girl! It isn't cute or anything, it's violent! "Take them to the manager," I said to the buffed security men and they nodded. The bashed up guys were pushed to walk upstairs.

"Yo CK" I called the DJ, "bring this club back to life!" I cheered, along with everyone when the loud music started again, and laser lights were added. I came back to the bar, serving customers.

"Ash," my best friend, and also my bar tending partner, Derek, called me. "Good work out there," I smiled.

"Thanks," I grinned, and passed the beer to a guy.

After two hours, I took off from the club. Yes, I am a bartender, and a 25 year-old single mother, add to that I am still in college... Crazy life, huh?

I parked in front of my apartment, got out of my car, and locked it. The cold wind brushed against my face and stomach, sending a nice feeling to my sweaty body. I had ripped black leather leggings, black pumps, a grey crop tank top, above it a leather jacket, and my hair was in a pony tail.

The neighborhood was empty and quiet, no wonder since it was 3 in the morning. I walked to my front door and opened it, then proceeded to check if the baby sitter was here. Yup, she was there, on the couch... Drooling.

I dropped my keys and sighed. "Emilia," I called. No response. "Emilia!" I shook her, and she jumped in her spot mumbling mysterious words. "It's time to go," I laughed a bit.

Emilia is a 16 year old girl, she needed the extra money, so I offered her to take care of my 10 year old kid on the weekends where I work late at the club. My husband, God damn him, left me when I first laid my kid... I was also 16. And I never heard from him ever since.

"Thank you so much," I thanked Emilia as she stood up to head to the floor above mine, where she lived, a perfect teenage life. Unlike my teenage years...

I shook my head trying to get rid of my memories, you shouldn't dwell on the past! It is long gone!

I walked to my son's bedroom, Jacob was laying there peacefully with his eyes closed... He was everything I've got, he was a part of me, and I never thought I could love someone as much as I did to him! His black hair was covering his face, and he was breathing calmly. I leaned and kissed him, covering him properly.

I went back to my room, changing into my pajama shorts and tank top. I sat down in front my laptop. I had a project to finish due to Monday, so I had to try finishing it tonight, and tomorrow which is Sunday. I am in my last year! I am in an English major, so I have to work really hard to finish this year and be finally free. I really wanted to teach English, it's always been my favorite subject.

I am insomniac, so it was easy for me to work at this time.

My phone vibrated and I picked it up to find a Facebook notification, '3 messages from Christi'

Christi is my best girl friend/ cousin. She's my family!

Her: ASHLEY!

REPLY ASAP!

Where are you? SOMETHING URGENT HAPPENED!

Me: I'm here! What happened?!

Her: there's a news report saying that we are possibly in danger! But they still haven't said exactly what it was, but they said there was a virus, a FATAL one!!

I could sense her freaking out.

Me: it's probably mad cow disease like before, or a virus from pigs or something! Relax, we are far away from all the pollution and such, it will be gone before it reached California.

Her: I don't know about this! I have a bad feeling!

Me: don't! It's nothing, don't worry. I will talk to you tomorrow, I'm tired.

Her: okay... Good night.

Me: to you too... Again, don't be afraid, we are safe! Bye <3

Little did I know was that we weren't safe at all! As a matter of fact, we were doomed!
