"Hey, I found the gun!" Christi held up for me to see.
"Great, now search for the crowbar," I said.
"I'm hungry, mom!" Jacob whined.
"Derek, please give him a nutrition bar from my bag," I handed Derek my bag.
"Here you go buddy," he said as he handed him the bar, "hey Ash, aren't you feeling tired?"
"Why? You want to drive?" I smiled.
"Yeah, I mean you have been driving from the morning and it's dark now, you need some rest."
I laughed a bit, I looked at the road, trees on both side. It was dark, only the full moon lightening the road ahead.
"Alright," I stopped the car.
I took of my seatbelt and waited for Derek to get out of the car so I can sit in his seat. He walked to the driver's door and opened it.
"Can't we camp here? We can't sleep in the car, it's too tight!" He said, "plus the night's breeze is nice!"
I gave him a look and was about to tell him to get in when I caught something moving in the street, I looked over Derek's shoulder and to my horror there was two zombies. My eyes widened and fear rose in my body.
"Get in the car now!" I said, panicked.
"Why?" He saw the fear in my eyes and looked over his shoulder. "Shit!" He was about to climb the driver's seat, but one of the zombies caught him and pulled him out of the car. Derek screamed, panicked.
"Derek!" I yelled, and opened my door to get out of the car. "Chris, help!"
I took a hold of my knife, and Chris and I pushed the zombie away from Derek. I could hear the screams of Christi and Jacob.
The three of us took a hold of one zombie, and I stabbed it in the skull and it cracked opened. Some fluid splattered my face, and I felt an urge to throw up. I turned to a side and hollered the continents of my stomach.
"Ash, zombie!" Chris warned.
I coughed and looked to my left and saw the zombie's claws a few inches away from my face. I screamed and it pushed me on the hood."Get off of her!" Derek yelled and pulled the zombie away from me.
My heart was beating in my ears and throat.
Derek pulled the zombie to the ground, and he started kicking it. The same as Chris.
"Where's my knife? We don't have any weapons?!" I shouted. Suddenly a gun shot sound echoed in the night sky. I looked at the guys and they stood around the zombie's body. But it wasn't any of them that shot it, Christi did. She had the gun still pointing to it's head.
I looked at her with wide eyes. She then dropped the gun and started trembling. "I killed him! I killed him!" She whispered, panicked.
"It's okay Christi, get in the car," I hugged her.
Derek picked up the gun and we headed to the car.
"Ash, your knife!" Chris said from the back seat, I looked at him and he picked something from the ground, and it was my knife, it had blood on it. My stomach twisted.
"Thanks," I took it with a piece of clothing.
