"Help!" Another scream echoed and the drumming increased.

"Should I open the door?!" Derek whispered, shaking.

I shook my head fast, "didn't you hear what they said on the news? Don't let any strangers in!"

"Please, I know you're in there!"

"Oh Lord," someone whispered.

Derek walked slowly towards the door, and panic spread across my body, "no! Derek, NO!" I whisper-yelled.

He made a sign for me to calm down, and I started shaking. He looked through the door hole and at the same second there was pained screaming and shuffling outside the apartment's door.

"Mom! What is happening?!" Jacob said, panicked, and covered his ears.

Suddenly there was a crash against the door which made us all jump and Derek ran a meter away from the door. Hand on his heart, and eyes wide opened. He slid against the wall and covered his face, sobs came afterwords.

"We have to get out of here!" Christi finally spoke, she looked more than terrified.

"We have no where to go!" Chris answered her.

"Anywhere but here!" Christi yelled.

"Shh!" I shhed her, afraid that whatever was out there would hear us, the blood shrilling screams dying away.

"It's already late at night, we have no where to go!" Derek said.

"Guys," I called silently, "do you think this spread around all of America? Even the world?!"

No one answered, not wanting to know the truth.

"I want my mother!" I hugged my knees crying silently.

"I want to see my parents one last time," Christi said.

Suddenly feeling determined, I shot my head up, "I'm going to get my mom."

"What? We can't leave! It's not safe!" Chris protested.

"I don't care," I stood up, "first thing I will do tomorrow is go get my mom, even if I had to get back here, I just want to know she's safe!" A tear rolled down as I remembered my father... He died of cancer when I was 13 years old, and I watched my mother fall in depression. I shook my head, this isn't the right time to think about this!

"But what about tonight? Can't we leave to our places?" Derek wondered.

"We need to stay indoors!" I replied.

"Wait!" Christi stood up, "don't you have a gun around here?!"

My eyes widened, "holy shit, yes!" I stood up.

I ran to my bedroom and lightened it, "I know it's somewhere here," I whispered to myself. "Uh-huh!" I laid on my stomach to look under my bed. I found a small briefcase.

"What's the combination?!" I was panicking, I tried all the possibilities but failed.

"So did you find it?" Derek asked once I got to the living room, the noise outside the door has calmed, and all I could hear now is growling.

"I forgot the combination!" I sighed.

"The important thing is that you found it, we will figure it out later," Christi walked to me and hugged me. It was unnecessary but comforting. Knowing that I am a part of this group, and we are all in this together gave me some comfort.

Jacob yawned and I looked at the clock, "it's 11:50 PM, we better take a rest, we have a big day tomorrow," I rubbed my eyes, sleep taking over slowly.
