"God damn it, Ash! Wake up!" I drifted out of sleep at the sound of a panicked Derek.

"Mmhm?" I mumbled, rubbing my eyes.

"This isn't happening, again!" Derek hit the wheel in frustration.

I looked a head, and the road was blocked by cars. Not one, two, nor three... The whole street was filled with cars, even with the darkness, I could see the reflected moon's light on the glass of the cars.

"And the trouble keeps on coming!" I kicked the dashboard. "Could this night be any worse?!"

"Actually, yeah!" Christi said from the backseat.

"We have to walk between the cars, because there is no way we can drive through" Derek informed me.

"And we will have to find a car that we can drive from there." Chris sighed.

"We are going to steal a car?" Jacob exclaimed, "that's so cool!"

"No it isn't!" I gave him a look.

"We can find a hammer or something!" He replied.

"Do you know what's out there? What we might face?!" The idea made my heart skip a beat.

"We have no other solution!" Derek argued.

"The map on my phone shows that after a few miles there's a town, we should find a place to crash!" Christi said.

I sighed and ran my hand trough my hair, frustrated. "We need to be prepared for the worse, everyone grab your weapons, your bags, and everything we have."

"Hey, we didn't check what's in the trunk!" Chris said.

"We might find the crow bar there!" Derek said as he got out of the car.

I followed behind, throwing the back pack on my shoulder. I didn't want to repeat what happened before. The knife prepared in my hand, and gun in the belt in my jeans.

The breeze brushed my face, refreshing me. "Jacob, be careful, alright?" I said with a low voice. He nodded.

"Everyone, we need to be as quiet as possible!" Chris said.

"Found it," Derek came to us with the crow bar in his hand.

"There's nothing else in the trunk?" I said.

He shook his head, "no. And Ash, I think you need this, you're the only one that doesn't have a powerful thing!"

"I have my gun!" I whispered.

"Yeah, but this might come in handy."

I took the crow bar and thanked him, putting the knife in my bag, but in a place I can easily reach.

"Lets move it." Christi said.

I pushed Jacob to walk in front of me, with Christi next to him, Derek and I behind them. Chris at the front.

The night was silent, only trees and the howls of wolves were heard. It was creepy! I looked back at my car, it contained so many memories. I shook my head, focus!

As we passed through the cars, I kept on looking inside each one, they were all empty!

What happened here? What made all these people leave their cars here and go? That, I didn't want to know why...

"Mom, look!" Jacob whispered. He was looking through the widow of a car.

I looked through it too. There were weapons scattered on the back seat. I poked Derek, and he grinned at the sight.

Jacob opened the car door and climbed into the car to get the weapons in the bag. But then someone pushed me into a crouching position.

"Zombie!" Christi whispered, panicked.

"Where?" I asked.

"Ahead!" She replied.

Derek and Chris were in the same position. "Jacob, stay in the car, alright? And hide!" I whispered to him.

"Why?" He looked scared.

"It's okay, baby, I will be here in the next car."

"No mom, please stay with me!" He held my hand.

"Don't worry, I promise nothing will happen, just lock the door. Nothing will happen!" I assured and kissed his forehead.

He nodded, his eyes glinting with horror.

I closed the door silently, and signaled the guys to follow me after I saw where the zombie was wandering.

"Christi, lay under the car!" I pointed at the car Jacob was in. Chris immediately laid under another one.

"Looks like it's up to us to kill it," Derek shrugged.

"Get your hammer ready." He nodded.

The zombie was getting near, and with every step it took, my heart raced more.

We hid behind a large car, watching as the undead passed by. It was getting closer to the car Jacob was in. But then I saw him looking at me from the car.

"Shit! The zombie might see Jacob!" I clutched Derek's shoulder in fear.

And it did, the zombie reached the car and slowed its pace, it looked through the window, and it's growls echoed, hitting the window.

I heard a far sound of Jacob's scream. And I ran to the zombie as soon as I heard it.

I gave Jacob a reassuring look, and swung the crow bar at the zombie's head, it cracked into its skull pulling the crow bar from my hand as it fell to the ground. It growled as it saw Christi under the vehicle., she gasped.

"Don't scream!" I heard Chris whisper to her.

I stepped on the zombie's head to take the crow bar out of it's head. But the zombie was still alive and reached its arm and growled at Christi.

Derek ran up to us and smashed its head with his hammer, producing a cracking sound and disgusting liquid splashed the side of the car.

"Good job!" I sighed.

He grinned, but his smiled vanished as he looked over my shoulder.

"What?" I asked, and turned around.

"Oh, shit!" We whispered in unison.

Now I know what these people might have faced and ran for their lives.
