Chapter Fifteen:

"Hey!" I shouted, "over here! Look, pink, delicious meat! Yummy!" I danced around, shaking my hips. "Guys, go, now!" I looked at my friends in the room, and ordered. Derek and Chris nodded, exiting the room with weapons in their hands, and pockets. After they disappeared, I turned back around to the pile of zombies under me... You guessed it, I'm distracting them so that they could search for a car.

"I'm filled with blood, meat, muscles, brains! I'm delicious, but you can't get to me!" I teased, dancing around. I started acting like I'm biting my hand, "yummy! So delicious!"

One growled loudly, making my heart skip a beat, and freezing me for a second. "You're dead, poor you, you can't climb the stairs to get to me!" I teased, sticking my tongues out.

Christi chuckled, "you have a weird sense of humor."

I shrugged, joining her laughs. I descended a level, to distract them more, shaking my body, and yelling at them. From the corner of my eye, I saw Derek and Chris running in the street next to the building, but away from the zombies. They started checking cars, and moving from one to another, until they disappeared behind a building.

I leaned close to the railing, trying to catch a sight of them, but I got dizzy, and slipped.

A scream escaped my lips, as I gripped the railing tight, dangling from it. "Help!" I shouted, my tears started clouding my vision as the zombies' hands almost caught my legs. "Help me!" I cried out, my heart racing in my throat and ears, and my breath turning heavy. They were too close, one caught my leg.

I looked down, they were almost jumping to claw me. "Let go! Let go!" I yelled, jerking my leg away, trying to break free. But it started pulling me down, making me scream more, and my fear rising to the maximum.

"Ash!" I heard Christi yell my name, and I shouted back.

"Help me, please!" My tears rolled down my cheeks, raining down on the undeads. I kicked the air, trying to break loose, but another hand grabbed my leg. I screamed, my hands almost slipping from the railing. That made me closer to the zombies' reach.

After a time of fear, and tears. I felt hands grab mine. At first I got scared, but immediately felt relief as I saw the faces of Christi and Jacob. They both grabbed each hand, and tried pulling me up. The zombie tried pulling me down, but with the force of the three of us, I managed to get pulled up... Along with the zombie clinging to my leg.

"Hold on!" Christi gave me a reassuring look, as I was finally standing outside the fire escape place. She leaned down, knife in hand, and got it from between the metal bars, and stabbed the creature in the head. It let go of my legs, and fell to the ground. I climbed to safety, falling down, with Jacob next to me, both breathing heavily. He hugged me, and I rubbed his back, "I will always come back!"

"There's nothing! Either the keys are missing, or it's locked!" Derek exclaimed, slamming his fists against the wall, pissed off.

"What are we going to do?" Christi asked.

"We have to search tomorrow," Chris ran his hand through his hair, frustrated.

"I'll go!" I stood up. "I'm not gonna be a bait again!"

Derek gave me a confused look. "She almost died!" Jacob exclaimed.

"What?" Chris and Derek gasped.

"It's a long story," I waved it off. "But I'm okay!"

Derek walked and hugged me, I noticed Jacob's glare from the corner of my eye, making me pull away from the embrace.

"Okay," he nodded. "You and I will go!"

"I am coming along!" Jacob stood up.

I gave him a look, "hell no! You will stay here with the twins, and make sure you stay safe!"

"But it isn't fair!" He whined.

"Jacob, you're staying here, end of discussion!" I said. He grumbled something under his breath.

"It's getting late, we need to eat and sleep," Chris sighed.

"I found a pancake dry mix in a cabinet today!" Christi grinned. "And there's powdered milk. Who wants some?"

We all raised our hands in unison. After eating, and Chris getting assigned to watch us in our sleep, we all went to bed. Tomorrow is a big day!
