I woke up to an empty bed the next morning. I frowned in confusion as I sat up from my bed, stretching slightly before standing up to wrap my comfy robe around my body, once I stepped out of my room I was met with the smell of food coming from the kitchen which was weird.
"What are you doing?" I asked as I stepped into the kitchen and saw Lucas was cooking "You? Cooking? That's a sight I thought I'd never see." I chuckled as I sat on one of the stools from the bar and he turned around to smile warmly at me "Watcha cooking?" I grinned softly and he rolled his eyes playfully
"I just thought I'd do something nice for your mom since... you know she's not really feeling to well and all." he said and I smiled softly "What?" he asked and I shook my head
"Nothing." I said softly "Just thinking."
"About?" he pressed as he flipped the pancake over and smiled triumphantly since it landed perfectly on the pan
"You barely even know my mom and you're cooking breakfast because she's... depressed." I muttered and then sighed as he looked at me seriosuly "It's kind of amazing." he chuckled
"Eleanor Grey, are you complimenting me?" he grinned and I bit my lip, supressing a smile "You are, aren't you?" he taunted "You think I'm amazing?" he grinned and I rolled my eyes playfully
"I said that what you're doing is amazing, not that you are amazing." I clarified and he also rolled his eyes playfully "That is all I said." I added as I raised my hands in defense and then grabbed a pancake, pouring syrup over it as I cut a piece, biting into it, moaning in delight "This is so good." I smiled as I watched him set a plate on a tray along with some flowers from the garden in a small vase "What you getting all fancy for?" I chuckled
"It's for your mom." he muttered as he glared at me slightly and I grinned "Flowers always used to cheer my mom up when she was in the hospital, so..." I smiled softly
"Thanks, Luke." I said "For being here and... for everything." I added softly and he nodded as he came close and softly kissed the top of my forehead, which shocked me, but did nothing.
"You're welcome, Angel."

"Hi, mom." I said as I knocked softly on her door, she smiled softly, motioning for me to come in, I set the tray before her and her eyes brightened slightly as I sat cross-legged on the bed in front of her "You hungry?" I asked as I grabbed a piece of toast and buttering it
"You made this?" She asked as she straightened her posture so she could sit in a more comfortable position, I shook my head
"Lucas did." I answered, she smiled softly as she glanced at the flower in the small vase "He picked the flower from your garden." I added "He said that flowers always made his mother feel better when she was in the hospital." She glanced at me and mustered a small smile as I sighed before biting into my piece of toast
"Thank him for me, will you?" She said and I nodded "This is lovely." She said before grabbing her coffee cup and blowing on it before taking a sip of it "I always liked Lucas," she said softly and I raised my eyebrow at her slightly "you two were so cute together; still are." She muttered and I rolled my eyes slightly before flashing her my engagement ring, she chuckled slightly before nodding "I know honey, and Nate's lovely, don't get me wrong."
"Then what are you saying?" I breathed "Lucas and I are just friends, mom, and we'll stay that way."
"Honey," she said as she set her hand on top of mine "he still loves you, and I can tell that very deep down you still do."
"Don't be ridiculous, Mom." I muttered as I bit into my toast "Lucas was a big part of my life but that part of my life is gone, I'm not the girl he fell in love with." I said and she sighed softly
"What about him?" She asked and I glanced at her with a frown "Is he still the boy you fell in love with?"
"How is this even relevant?" I said as I ran my hands through my hair
"Is he?" She pressed and I sighed heavily before nodding softly, she smirked softly "Why did you ask him to come?"
"Because no one else was available." I said as I played with the ends of my hair "Dinah is crazy busy with her wedding plans since it's so soon; so I had to leave Dani behind to help her and Nate is crazy busy with his movie, so I turned to Lucas."
"Are you sure that's the only reason why?" She asked and I groaned softly
"Mom, what's with you being all about Lucas now? I don't remember you being like this when we were dating."
I muttered and she chuckled slightly "What are all these questions really about?""I'm just trying to understand..." She said as she raised her hands in defense and I sighed heavily
"Understand what?"
"Why Nate's not here." She shrugged and I groaned "I know what you said about his movie, love. But he is your fiancé, isn't it only fair that he's here and not your ex-boyfriend?" She asked and I bit my lip "He's practically your husband already, so why isn't he here?"
"Mom..." I groaned "what is this really about? Seriously." I deadpanned and she sighed
"You both still love each other." She stated and I felt my jaw drop at her "Seeing you two together again is like you're back in high school." She added with a sigh "It's obvious."
"No, mom." I sighed deeply "I love Nate." I stated
"I'm sure you do." She said with a shrug "But are you in love with him?"
