Kenya's POV
Hide no longer lives with me since his dorms got fixed, which relieved Kaneki, but now he has a new worry.
I opened the door to my brother who glared at the apartment next to me "I don't like Ayato being your neighbor." He said as he stayed outside. Kaneki inspected Ayato's outdoor decor like the hanging flower pots, the cringe door mat, and a sign saying "live, laugh, love". He shook his head disapproving of everything as he knew this was all to look "normal".
"Brother it's fine." I dragged him inside my home as we were supposed to watch a movie together. "And how dare he ask you on a date in front of me, without my permission." I can see the smoke from his anger flow from his ears and head. I offered him so water or pure black coffee as I tried to calm him down.
"It's just a small hang out." I said as I sit on the couch. "He's a ghoul, a horrible one! How do you not know it's a trap!" Kaneki raised his voice at me, I understood his worries. Ayato is known to be dangerous ghoul as he's been on all the news and targeted by the CCG.
"Sister, please...just don't be near him." Kaneki had his hands clasped together as he asked me several times to not be close to Ayato. Yes, Ayato was a jerk to me but I did find him very cute and I know deep down he's a sweetheart. "Brother trust me, if he does something I'll punch him and come straight home." Before Kaneki could say anything there was a knock at the door.
Kaneki opened the door and saw Ayato in casual clothes with a hoodie. "Kaneki" he said firmly as he sticks his hand out "I...I...umm came to ask Kenya...on a..." he looked away blushing slightly "proper formal date....with your permission". He looks so cute blushing! Wait what am I thinking...
Kaneki said "Hell no" as he slammed the door and locked it. I rushed to the door and gently smacked his head. "Brother that was so mean." I shake my head as I open the door and there was a very pissed off Ayato ready to punch someone. "I'm sorry Ayato, we can talk out here." I closed the door as I heard Kaneki mumble nonsense of Ayato being a jerk and asshole.
Ayato looked down once we were outside, he had a very light blush and he seemed really nervous. "I....I wanted to apologize for the other day. At the arcade, I shouldn't have caused a scene to ask you out." He shifted slightly as he waited for my response.
"It's alright, I was just caught off a bit guard." I felt a warm feeling as he looked at me, he seemed very caring. "So...with that said..." Ayato looked away slightly, is he embarrassed?
Ayato was looking a bit redder than before. "W-would you like to...maybe...go on a date?...." He stepped back and turned around. "...with me?" I felt a blush appear on my face, I was getting warmer. Wait why am I feeling, nervous?
I stuttered out of the nerves "I=I...." why can't I saw word?!. Ayato back up as he looked disappointed "I knew it, just forget I asked". He began to head to his apartment door and struggled to open the door with the keys. I laughed softly as he tried to not look embarrassed.
"Ayato," I walked over to him, but kept a distance to not make him more nervous than he was. He slammed his fists against the door in frustration as his face became more flustered "I know Kenya! I know!" he spoke in a disappointed tone.
"Individuals like me....we don't get the girls. We don't get any happy endings!" He raised his voice "I knew you were going to reject me and that's ok, but....why can't a ghoul like me...try to at least to smile." His voice was softer but also full with sadness. I could tell he was on the verge of crying, but struggled to express himself.
"I'm not perfect, I'm...not normal, but" he breathes out as he fought back to fight the tears. Ayato moved his head slightly so I wouldn't see his emotions or expressions. "...but I have dreams too. No one ever asks how I'm doing...if I ever feel anything..." he breathes out harshly "I'm just a heartless ghoul."
