Kaneki's POV
Deep breaths.
You've completed this mission so there's no need to kill the man that hides behind the desk. Did he honestly think that I wouldn't see him?
His breathing was faster when we made eye contact. It seems that he's shock that I've found him. He did nothing wrong so he lives to see another day.
Even though I'm allowed to eat the dead bodies, I don't crave for them. I'm not hungry right now.
"Stay away from trouble." I spoke to the man who still hid behind the desk. I jump out the window and safely land on the sidewalk.
Time for the long walk that awaits me.
Tokyo has always been my home ever since I was a child. My mom and dad worked hard to give me and my sister a better life.
Dad died when I was 5.
Mom died when I was 10 and my sister Kenya disappeared.
Dad, mom, and Kenya. They're all gone.
"Look mom, I got a perfect score on my spelling test!" I ran to give mom a hug while she was preparing dinner.
"I got a 9 out of 10! It's not a perfect score but it's still a good grade!" Kenya was 1 year younger than me. She's smart, but I'm smarter.
"I'm so proud of both of you. You kids work hard in school. You deserve some macaroni and cheese." Mom kissed our heads and showed us the macaroni and cheese that was on the stove.
Even though we lived in a small apartment and mom working all day for little money, she still has a bright smile that I can never forget.
My younger sister and I are happily eating while mom started to get her purse and put her shoes on.
"I have to go to work so Kaneki you are in charge. Kenya listen to your older brother and don't worry about the dishes, I'll clean them when I come back."
Mom.
She was always kind to us and her greedy money-taking sister.
"I love you both with all my heart."
Her hugs were always comforting and it made me feel safe.
"Let's get to cleaning and then do our homework." I ordered.
"Yeah! Let's help mom!" Kenya, always excited.
I only like to remember the good memories.
I walked in the shadows, avoiding the eyes of the people who passed me during this time at night.
I wonder if Kenya is even alive. I doubt she is and if she was then I wouldn't want her to meet me. She's human, I'm ghoul. Humans and ghouls don't mix.
12:07 am.
What a tiring night.
Anteiku, the coffee shop must be doing well.
"I'm hungry."
I don't eat the people I kill.
Looks like the street lights are broken. Must be a blackout.
I continue walking down the street and darkness was what I only saw. This is taking too long, better go through the short cut.
I made a sharp turn and walked down an alley.
"Stay away from me." A girl's voice.
